Meghan Markle Pauses Controversial Podcast Amid Mourning Period for Queen
Meghan Markle has decided to halt the release of her Spotify podcast, Archetypes, as a mark of respect during the mourning period for Queen Elizabeth II.
The upcoming episode of Markle's podcast, originally scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed.
However, it is expected that the next episode will be available for streaming on September 20th, the day following the state funeral for the Queen at Westminster Abbey in central London.
This delay in the podcast's release sets the stage for a potential clash between King Charles III and his son and daughter-in-law, who are currently living in self-imposed exile.
It is worth noting that Meghan was prohibited from joining the royal family at the Queen's deathbed in Balmoral, Scotland.
A source revealed that King Charles III has been made aware of Meghan's podcast and expressed concerns about a potential interview being the first public statement from any member of the royal family after Queen Elizabeth's passing.
“The last thing the King needs to be thinking about at this time, but make no mistake, it's a very serious problem,” the source emphasized.
“The King does not want the Duchess of Sussex discussing anything about the family's interactions or events surrounding this very solemn occasion.”
According to another insider, King Charles III intends to request Prince Harry's assistance in persuading Meghan to permanently end the podcast.
However, there are concerns that Meghan may not fully comprehend the gravity of the situation.
The insider stated, “King Charles is aware of what Meghan said in a recent interview.
She never had to sign anything that restricted her from talking.
He knows Meghan is steadfast in her view and believes she, and not the family, is in control of what she says publicly.”
Despite the King's hopes for Meghan to exercise common sense, politeness, and restraint, there is a warning from someone close to the podcast that if she proceeds with her show, it would be difficult for her not to discuss recent events.
A message on the podcast's Spotify page confirmed that new episodes of Archetypes will be paused during the official mourning period for Queen Elizabeth II.
To date, Meghan has released three episodes of her podcast, featuring guests such as Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, and Mindy Carling.
Future episodes are set to include appearances by Margaret Cho, Lisa Ling, Constance Wu, and Ziwei.
In a separate development, King Charles III addressed the nation for the first time following his mother's passing.
In his speech, he expressed his love for his children, Prince Harry and Prince William, while discussing their new titles.
Lady Colin Campbell, a royal commentator, praised the King's speech and suggested that there might not be a way back for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, even if they wished to return to their roles within the royal family.
Lady Colin commended the King's ability to address concerns from both supporters and detractors, stating, “I thought he was also brilliant in the way he love-bombed Harry and Meghan and made it absolutely clear that they have no parts to play.
And I know they don't want to have a part to play, but I don't think there's much of a way back for them even if they did want to have a part to play.”
She acknowledged the difficulty of the situation for both the family and the father, noting, “If you love your son, you don't want to have to cut him off completely.
And I think it's the way he handled things was very decorous, delicate but firm.
I was very impressed with the tone of his speech and all of the main bullet points he ticked every box.”
As the mourning period continues, the decision to pause the podcast reflects the sensitivity and respect being observed by Meghan Markle during this challenging time for the royal family.
