Meghan Markle May Be Called to Testify in Prince Andrew’s Legal Case
The ongoing legal case involving Prince Andrew has taken an intriguing turn, as it is now being suggested that Meghan Markle could potentially be asked to testify.
David Boyes, the lawyer representing Virginia Roberts Jewfrey in her civil case against the royal, revealed to the Daily Beast that if the case proceeds to trial, the Duchess of Sussex may be called upon to provide her testimony.
Boyes explained that there are three key reasons for this possibility.
Firstly, Meghan Markle is currently residing in the United States, which grants jurisdiction over her.
Secondly, she was known to be a close associate of Prince Andrew for a certain period of time, making her a potential witness to his actions.
Even if she did not directly witness anything, she may have heard conversations about it.
Given her past association with Prince Andrew, she is likely to possess important knowledge or information related to the case.
Lastly, Boyes emphasized that Meghan Markle is someone who can be relied upon to tell the truth, making her a valuable potential witness.
This development comes after Prince Andrew's legal team filed a motion earlier this month to dismiss the case, which was filed under New York's Child Victims Act.
If the motion to dismiss is rejected, both Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, could also face the possibility of being deposed.
The lawsuit against Prince Andrew was initiated by Virginia Roberts Jewfrey in August, according to court documents obtained by Access Hollywood.
Jewfrey has long maintained that she was trafficked to Prince Andrew by the late convicted s** offender, Jeffrey Epstein, when she was a minor.
She alleges that she was coerced into engaging in s**ual activities with the Duke of York on three separate occasions.
The complaint further reveals the severe and lasting damage caused by the alleged abuse.
Prince Andrew has consistently denied Jewfrey's allegations, asserting that he has never even met her.
In a 2019 interview with BBC News Night, he emphatically stated that the alleged s**ual encounters “never happened” and claimed to have no recollection of ever meeting Jewfrey.
He also expressed his inability to explain a photograph allegedly depicting him with Jewfrey, stating that he has absolutely no memory of it being taken.
When questioned about the lawsuit, Buckingham Palace responded by stating that it is a matter for Prince Andrew's legal team.
