Meghan Markle Faces Criticism for Choosing “Easiest Possible” Interview with Jimmy Fallon
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has come under fire for her choice of interview appearances, with critics claiming she opted for the “easiest possible” option by appearing on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show.
Originally scheduled for September to promote her Spotify podcast, Archetypes, the appearance was postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth.
However, despite the announcement that Meghan would be appearing on December 7th, it has been revealed that this information was inaccurate.
Nine News presenter Karl Stefanovic, known for his previous criticism of Meghan, expressed his thoughts on her talk show choices, stating, “‘Meghan Markle is about to complete the talk show trifecta.
First, it was Oprah, bombshell after bombshell, then Ellen, where she tried to make herself relevant, and now she's locked in an appearance on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show.”
Entertainment reporter Sam Rubin also weighed in, suggesting that Meghan may have chosen Fallon's show for its easygoing nature.
He commented, “‘Obviously, she's going for the easiest possible appearance.
Jimmy Fallon, it's all marshmallows and not a difficult question.
She'll be given the questions in advance.
It won't be a substantial conversation.
Meghan Markle is many things.
Subtle is not one of them.”
Critics have pointed out the hypocrisy of Meghan denouncing the monarchy while holding onto her royal titles.
Royal expert Angela Levin addressed this issue, discussing Meghan's refusal to relinquish her titles during a conversation with Sarah Hewson, host of royal tea, along with The Sun's royal editor Matt Wilkinson and talk TV pundit Afua Hagan.
Levin suggested that Meghan's desire for privacy had shifted, and she now sought to reveal every aspect of her life.
Levin stated, “‘Well, I think Meghan has wanted to be so private, now wants to do an A to Z of everything that she's like, everything she's been called, every bit of her life, and you know, she's sort of now relying on the odd word, giving a view on it.”
This behavior, according to Levin, is a desperate attempt to remain relevant through provocation, but it may not be working.
Levin added, “‘I think she should just be quiet for a while and get on with her life and stop hanging onto her royal titles and using, you know, the crown on her notepaper, and I think she's getting really, really boring.”
Another point of contention has been Meghan's use of an embossed crown alongside her signature on personal letters.
Critics have mocked this gesture, highlighting the irony of her actions.
Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, were once seen as the darlings of the world stage, challenging the status quo represented by the monarchy.
However, two years after their departure from royal duties, they are being exposed as one-dimensional individuals driven by greed and a thirst for financial freedom.
Their narrative seems to revolve around victimhood, with Meghan's employers treating her as a mere “bimbo” and Harry having his allowance taken away by his father.
Levin emphasized the need for the couple to find something beyond themselves, stating, “‘You know, find it something really interesting, you know, find an area in your life that's not just about you.'”
As we move into 2023, many wonder if the royal couple will find their footing.
In January, Harry's memoir is set to be released, and their Netflix reality show will debut.
