Meghan Markle Ends Podcast Series with Veiled Swipe at Royal Life, Expert Says
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has seemingly taken a subtle jab at her former life as a royal, according to an expert.
In the finale of her Spotify series Archetypes, which delves into the labels that hold women back, Meghan engaged in conversations with male guests such as TV producer Andy Cohen, movie director Judd Apatow, and comedian Trevor Noah.
As she wrapped up the 12-episode series, Meghan shared a quote that resonated with her and addressed the issue of being confined to certain roles and stereotypes.
The quote, from Greek poet Dinos Christianopoulos, reads, “What didn't you do to bury me?
But you forgot that I was a seed.”
Royal expert Phil Dampier suggests that this quote was directed towards the royal family, subtly highlighting the restrictions she experienced.
Dampier adds that Meghan's approach allows for interpretation, giving her an out if anyone takes offense.
Meghan Markle stepped away from her role as a working royal nearly three years ago, relocating to the United States with her husband, Prince Harry.
In a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, she openly criticized royal life.
Despite rumors of a Netflix docuseries centered around Meghan and Harry, the Duchess firmly stated that she will not be appearing in a reality TV show.
During a conversation with Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen, Meghan revealed that she stopped watching the Housewives franchise when her own life became filled with enough drama.
Cohen playfully suggested building a show around her, to which Meghan responded with a laugh, saying, “You mean this is my audition for Real Housewives in Montecito?”
While the Netflix docuseries, focusing on the Sussexes' story, is set to air on December 8, it remains uncertain if Archetypes will have a second season.
