Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Campaign Against Royal Family Backfires, Losing Popularity: Expert
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's ongoing campaign against the Royal Family seems to be failing, according to one Royal commentator.
Daniela Elsa suggests that the couple's PR strategy has backfired, as evidenced by their declining popularity and the jokes made at their expense.
Despite their efforts to criticize members of the firm, including Charles, Queen Camilla, William, and Kate, as well as the institution of monarchy, the Sussexes have ended up on the losing side, claims Elsa.
Recently, Prince Harry published a tell-all memoir titled “Spare,” which not only criticized several members of the firm but also revealed intimate moments from his life.
While the book became an overnight bestseller, it has come at a cost for the Sussexes, notes Elsa.
In the United States, Meghan and Harry have become the subject of jokes by comedians such as Chris Rock, Jimmy Kimmel, and Trevor Noah, with the hit TV show South Park even dedicating an entire episode to mocking the couple.
Elsa points out that this is the consequence of the Sussexes' failed PR campaign, as they have been unable to gain significant support.
Writing for News.com.au, she states, “This is the price that the Sussexes are paying for their palace campaign having failed to really gain a huge amount of PR ground.”
She continues by highlighting that while Harry may have hoped for some form of acknowledgment or apology from his family, he instead finds himself facing an immovable palace and a king who refuses to budge.
As a result, a large portion of Americans have turned against them.
According to polls conducted by Redfield and Wilton for Newsweek in February, Prince Harry's net approval rating has plummeted by 38 points since December, now standing at minus 10.
Similarly, Meghan Markle's net approval rating has dropped by 40 points to a dismal minus 17.
It is clear that Harry's campaign against the royal family is not yielding positive results, remarks Elsa with a touch of sarcasm.
While acknowledging that the future remains uncertain, Elsa suggests that at present, it appears that Meghan and Harry are losing the power struggle with Charles.
Although they have been invited to King Charles' coronation on May 6th, it remains unclear whether the Duke and Duchess will attend.
As of now, no RSVP has been received from the Sussexes.
