Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to Keep Queen Elizabeth II’s Gift
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will be allowed to retain their titles bestowed upon them by Queen Elizabeth II.
This news comes as they stepped down as working members of the royal family in 2020.
According to Grant Harrold, a former royal butler and royal commentator, the couple's titles are likely to remain intact due to the fact that they were granted by the late Queen.
There has been speculation about whether King Charles should strip Harry of his royal title, as kings and queens historically have done for treason to the crown.
However, Harrold believes that Charles is in a difficult position, as there isn't a valid reason at present to remove Harry's Duke of Sussex title.
Additionally, taking away the title would mean depriving Harry of a gift given to him by his mother, which Charles may not want to do.
During an interview with Slingo, Harrold expressed his belief that the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to be associated with Harry and Meghan.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry attended King Charles' coronation on his own, while Meghan Markle remained in California with their children, Archie and Lilibet.
The Duke of Sussex rushed back from the ceremony to celebrate Archie's fourth birthday with Meghan in the United States, immediately returning to Los Angeles following the historic event.
While senior members of the royal family gathered at Buckingham Palace to witness the flypast, Prince Harry hurriedly made his way to Heathrow Airport to catch a flight back home.
The question arises: Should Harry and Meghan be stripped of their royal title?
