Meghan and Harry’s Seating at Coronation Sparks Controversy
A recent social media post related to the coronation of King Charles has caused quite a stir online.
The post, shared by a Twitter account associated with the royal family, featured a sketch showing the seating arrangement for each member of the royal family at Westminster Abbey.
What caught the attention of many was the placement of Meghan and Harry's names in the last row, alongside low-ranking royals who are no longer working for the British royal family.
Notably, Meghan's seat is positioned right behind a pillar, reminiscent of her obscured image during the Queen's funeral televised panorama.
The organization and coordination of King Charles' coronation fall under the responsibility of senior royal figures, particularly Princess Anne and Archbishop Justin Welby.
Both individuals must approve the participants, seating arrangements, and overall ceremony.
However, it seems that if the Sussexes decide to attend, they will not be given prime seating.
Instead, they may find themselves placed behind a candle or pillar for recording purposes.
In fact, planners have reportedly created two seating plans to accommodate their indecisiveness.
If Meghan and Harry choose not to attend, their chairs will simply not be included.
This situation further adds to the perception that the couple has become somewhat of a laughing stock.
Their wavering decision to attend the coronation, coupled with their unmet demands and lack of support from key members of the royal family, has diminished their significance.
It appears that they will not have the opportunity to capture the iconic balcony picture, something they had hoped for.
Returning to the Queen's funeral, viewers of the BBC's coverage noticed that Meghan's face was mostly hidden behind a thick yellow church candle.
Even before this, her face was partially shielded by a wide-brimmed hat.
Meghan was positioned between her husband Prince Harry and his cousin Princess Beatrice in the second row, behind King Charles III and other senior members of the royal family, including the tall Vice Admiral Timothy Lawrence, Princess Anne's husband.
Wide-angle shots of the seated royal family members at the high altar of the Abbey clearly showed Meghan's face obstructed by the strategically placed candle.
This led some fans to speculate that its positioning was not accidental.
Numerous social media users expressed their observations, suggesting that the royal family meticulously plans and executes every detail.
They questioned the need for the candle and the camera angle, insinuating that they were intentionally used to hide Meghan's face.
One user wrote, “When I watched the funeral live, I noticed that you couldn't see Meghan at the committal ceremony with her face obstructed.
Remember, the royal family plans and executes every single detail with precision.
That candle didn't need to be there, and that camera angle was no accident.”
Another user posted, “A candle blocking the majority of Meghan's face, is it?
What a coincidence.”
The controversy surrounding Meghan and Harry's seating at the coronation highlights the ongoing tensions within the royal family.
It also raises questions about the treatment and visibility of Meghan in official ceremonies.
