Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to miss out on upcoming Royal Family festivities as they will not be present when the Queen hosts a lunch with the Firm.

Approximately 50 members of the Royal Family, including Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are expected to gather at Windsor Castle next Tuesday for the Queen's Christmas lunch.

However, due to the couple's current residence in California with their two young children, Archie and Lilibet, and the implementation of travel restrictions amid the spread of the Covid Omicron variant, it is unlikely that they will be able to attend.

Last year, the Queen's lunch with the Firm was canceled due to the pandemic, but there is resistance to canceling the event for the second consecutive year.

The extended family is looking forward to enjoying wine, crackers, and a lavish feast inside the castle, which will be followed by traditional festivities hosted by the Queen at Sandringham, Norfolk, over the Christmas period.

The late Prince Philip shared many interests with the Duchess of Cambridge, including their love for sports.

Kate, who was a member of her high school hockey team, was particularly skilled in the sport, according to her school friend Gemma Williamson.

Hockey was also one of Prince Philip's many hobbies, alongside gardening, sailing, and flying.

Despite the surge in Omicron cases, the Queen remains determined to proceed with her Christmas plans.

She intends to host an evening filled with wine, crackers, and a grand feast for her extended family inside the castle before heading to Sandringham, Norfolk, for Christmas itself.

The Queen's plans to celebrate Christmas Day at Sandringham, followed by a visit to St Magdalene Church, are also expected to go ahead.

This will be the Queen's first Christmas without her beloved husband Prince Philip, who passed away in April at the age of 99.

According to a source, the Queen's Christmas plans are currently scheduled to proceed, but they will be reviewed until the last moment.

The party has been relocated from Buckingham Palace to Windsor, where the Queen currently resides.

An insider revealed that the Queen is determined not to let anything disrupt such an important family event.

They added that it will likely be the first time so many family members gather since Philip's funeral.

As it stands, they are all prepared for Tuesday.

It is understood that three out of the Queen's four newest great-grandchildren, August, Lucas, and Sienna, are expected to attend the party.

Afterward, the Queen will travel to Sandringham by helicopter to celebrate Christmas.

On the other hand, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Archie, and Lilibet will not be flying over for Christmas this year.

The Queen has already recorded her Christmas Day address for television after ITV cameras visited Windsor Castle several weeks ago.

Last month, the Queen assured her family that she is well enough to host Christmas at Sandringham after recovering from a back sprain.

She expressed her improved condition and excitement for the traditional festive gathering at her Norfolk estate.

Concerns for the Queen's health have been heightened in recent months following her withdrawal from several major engagements.

Her Majesty had been resting under doctor's orders at Windsor Castle after sustaining an injury last month.

Additionally, in October, she spent a night in the hospital for an undisclosed condition.

During their first Christmas together with baby Archie, Harry and Meghan opted to spend the festive period at a luxury Canadian lodge on Vancouver Island instead of joining the rest of the royal family at Sandringham.

Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, were accompanied by Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, who briefly lived with the couple when they first brought Archie, now seven months old, home to Frogmore Cottage.

Locals reported sightings of Harry and Meghan jogging in the Canadian town of North Saanich and hiking in Horthill Regional Park on Vancouver Island.
