Lilibet Diana’s Christening: The Mystery Unveiled
In their recent Netflix docuseries, “Harry and Meghan,” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dropped a hint about their daughter Lilibet Diana's christening.
The couple's close friend and Hollywood producer Tyler Perry revealed that they had asked him to be their daughter's godfather.
While the couple has not confirmed whether the christening has taken place, Perry's comments suggest that it may have already happened.
Perry shared that he received a phone call from Harry and Meghan, asking him to be their daughter's godfather.
He expressed his honor at being chosen, saying, “‘I'd take a minute to take that in, and I thought I'd be honored, I'd absolutely be honored.'”
Perry also suggested the idea of a private ceremony instead of a traditional church ceremony with all the formalities.
Although the couple has not confirmed their plans, sources speculate that they may opt for a US-based ceremony.
Last year, there were reports that Harry and Meghan wanted Lilibet to be christened at St. George's Chapel in Windsor, where they got married and where their first child, Archie, was christened.
However, the couple's spokesperson responded by stating that the plans for the christening have not been finalized, and any assumptions about the event are mere speculation.
It remains unclear whether the christening has already taken place, but some royal watchers believe it may have occurred during the couple's visit to the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
However, no official update has been provided by the couple's spokesperson.
In the Netflix documentary, Perry also discussed his friendship with Harry and Meghan.
He revealed that he reached out to Meghan before their wedding in 2018, offering support amid negative stories about her father, Thomas Markle.
Perry also offered the couple his multi-million dollar Beverly Hills mansion as a place to stay in the US after they announced their royal exit in 2020.
Regarding Lilibet's christening, royal biographer and editor of Majesty magazine, Ingrid Seward, suggests that if the ceremony takes place in California, there may not be an official announcement.
She speculates that the couple will have their own Vogue cameraman present, ensuring there will be photos, but they may not be released to the public.
Archie, the couple's first child, was christened in July 2019 when Harry and Meghan were still working members of the royal family and residing in the UK.
The christening took place at Windsor with the presence of family members, including King Charles III and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
While the world eagerly awaits confirmation of Lilibet's christening, it is evident that Harry and Meghan are committed to raising their children in their own way, away from the pressures of royal life.
