King Charles’ Heartwarming Encounter at Golden Chopsticks Awards

In a heartwarming and amusing moment, King Charles of London shared a delightful exchange with television chef Ken Holm that left his bodyguard on edge.

Known for his composed demeanor, the monarch found himself unable to contain his laughter during a meeting with Chef Holm at the prestigious Golden Chopsticks Awards held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.

The encounter, which took a humorous turn, not only revealed the lighter side of the King but also shed light on his recent challenges.

Chef Ken Holm, who had crafted the official lamb dish for the King's coronation in May 2023, reunited with Charles after several years, leading to a jovial interaction that had the King in fits of laughter.

Reflecting on their reunion, Holm shared a light-hearted joke with the Daily Mail's Richard Eden, recalling, “I hadn't seen the King in a couple of years.

I said, ‘Hi sir, you don't remember me, but the last time we met we both had hair, and you still have yours.'”

The King's infectious laughter in response to the jest prompted a swift response from a concerned bodyguard, ensuring the monarch's well-being.

Despite recent health challenges, including a disclosed cancer diagnosis earlier this year following treatment for an unrelated condition, King Charles has remained steadfast in fulfilling his royal duties.

Following his hospital treatment, the King made a poignant visit to the Macmillan Cancer Center at University College Hospital, accompanied by Queen Camilla.

During his visit, Charles engaged warmly with patients and staff, aiming to raise awareness of the groundbreaking research supported by Cancer Research UK, of which he has recently become the patron.

Expressing gratitude for King Charles' patronage, Lord Simon Stevens, Chair of Cancer Research UK, stated, “We are delighted that His Majesty King Charles has agreed to become our patron.”
