King Charles Appoints Marquess of Chomondley as Lord-in-Waiting, Restoring His Status

In a significant development, has bestowed a new role upon the Marquess of Chomondley, allowing him and his wife, Rose Hanbury, to regain their former status.

The Marquess, whose real name is David Rock Savage, will now serve as the King's Lord-in-Waiting.

This appointment comes after he was replaced as Lord Great Chamberlain last year.

The news has been met with great enthusiasm by the Marquess' friends and neighbors, and Kate, Princess of Wales.

Notably, the Marquess, who is also a filmmaker, has attained a prestigious position that entails attending important state and royal occasions.

He will now represent his majesty at official events whenever called upon.

Residing at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, near Anmer in the picturesque East Anglian countryside, the Marquess and his wife live amidst a sprawling thousand-acre parkland.

The couple tied the knot in 2009, with the Marquess being 23 years senior to his wife.

Today, they are proud parents to three children: twin sons Alexander and Oliver, as well as their daughter, Iris.

Previously, as Lord Great Chamberlain, the Marquess had the unique responsibility of walking backward in front of the monarch during the state opening of parliament.

However, he had to relinquish this role following 's passing in September, as tradition dictates that it be passed on to another aristocratic family upon the death of the reigning monarch.

The 7th Lord Carrington succeeded him, with his late father having served as Foreign Secretary under Margaret Thatcher.

The Marquess, the 7th in his title, divides his time between Norfolk and Cheshire, where his family has resided in Tromondley since 1200.

His late mother, the Dowager Marchioness Lavinia, lived at Tromondley Castle until her passing in November 2015.

Known for their amicable relations with the royal family, the Marquess and Marchionesses are frequently seen at various royal events.

They were notably present at the service of thanksgiving for in 2022.

Additionally, the Marchioness has a personal connection to the royals, as her grandmother, Lady Rose Lambert, served as a bridesmaid at 's wedding in 1947.

Miss Hanbury, formerly a model, forged a close friendship with Kate through their shared charity work with the East Anglian Children's Hospital.

She also shares Kate's passion for photography and often showcases stunning images of the Houghton Hall estate on Instagram.
