Kim Kardashian’s Crime Podcast Tops Spotify Charts, Pushing Meghan Markle Down to Fourth Place
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has achieved great success with her new crime podcast, “The System: The Case of Kevin Keith,” which has quickly risen to the top of Spotify's podcast charts.
The podcast delves into the case of Kevin Keith, an Ohio man who was initially sentenced to death for a triple murder but had his sentence commuted to life without parole in 2010 by former governor Ted Strickland.
Despite only two episodes being released since its launch on October 3rd, Kim's massive following, boasting 331 million Instagram followers, has helped her surpass long-time fan favorite, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” for the number one spot.
Previously, Meghan Markle's podcast, “Archetypes,” debuted at the top spot when its first episode was released last month.
However, after a brief hiatus following the Queen's death, Markle's podcast now sits at fourth place.
Some fans of Markle had anticipated her rise to fame in America and expected her to outshine the Kardashians, but it seems that she hasn't become the money-making machine she aspired to be.
In her recent episode of “Archetypes,” Markle explored the portrayal of East Asian women in movies, specifically focusing on the stereotype of the temptress.
However, Glasgow comedian Leo Kurz criticized Markle, calling her “insufferably woke” and accusing her of race-baiting and self-obsession.
He argued that films like “Kill Bill” and “Austin Powers” are not meant to reflect real life but rather pay homage to martial arts and James Bond's fantasy world.
Kurz sarcastically questioned what Markle would complain about next, suggesting that movies like “Lethal Weapon” and “Top Gun” also present unrealistic depictions.
Moreover, Piers Morgan, a prominent critic of Markle's, scolded her for referring to herself as a princess on her podcast.
Morgan emphasized that, despite marrying a prince, Markle was never granted the royal title of princess.
He mockingly stated that he, as someone from Sussex, has spent more time in Sussex than Markle and Prince Harry have in the past month.
Morgan also questioned whether there will come a point when King Charles would intervene and restrict the couple from leveraging their royal titles to accumulate wealth.
Kim Kardashian's podcast success and Meghan Markle's decline in the rankings highlight the dynamic nature of the podcasting industry.
It demonstrates that celebrity status alone does not guarantee long-term success in this rapidly evolving medium.
As listeners continue to seek out engaging and thought-provoking content, podcast creators must continuously innovate and captivate their audiences to maintain their position at the top of the charts.
