Harry and William’s Relationship Strained: The Untold Story of a Royal Snub

Tensions have been brewing between and over the past few years, ever since the Sussexes made the decision to step back from their royal duties at the beginning of last year.

Seeking a more independent life, Harry and Meghan embarked on new ventures, such as partnering with Netflix and relocating to California.

While the couple has been critical of certain aspects of royal life, William has remained a central figure within the royal family.

Author Robert Lacey delves into the complexities of their relationship in his book, Battle of Brothers.

Lacey's book sheds light on a particular moment that may have brought Harry close to tears.

This incident took place during the 2020 Commonwealth Day service, which marked Harry and Meghan's final engagement as working members of the royal family.

According to Lacey, the initial plan was for William and Kate to walk alongside the Queen, Prince Charles, and , while Harry and Meghan took their seats ahead of them.

However, the orders of service distributed around the abbey made no mention of Harry and Meghan, effectively snubbing them.

Observers noted the tension on Harry's face, as he barely acknowledged his brother when William sat down next to him.

Throughout the service, Meghan put on a brave face, but Harry appeared increasingly despondent.

Some even speculated that he was fighting back tears, as his blinking became more rapid.

The strained relationship between the two brothers has been a subject of speculation for the past two years.

However, they presented a united front in July when they unveiled a statue of their mother, , at Kensington Palace.

In a joint statement, they honored her love, strength, and character, emphasizing her impact on countless lives worldwide.

They expressed hope that the statue would forever symbolize her life and legacy, while also thanking those who keep her memory alive.

Despite this display of unity, a royal expert claimed that William's birthday message to his brother last month revealed the ongoing frostiness between them.

Duncan Larcombe, the author, stated that William's simple “Happy Birthday ” tweet demonstrated the lack of warmth in their relationship.

Larcombe argued that it was a far cry from previous birthday messages, which featured pictures of the brothers together.

This year, the Cambridges opted for a solo picture of Harry, surprising many.

In other news, it seems that Prince George may inherit Prince Charles' London estate, Clarence House, potentially thwarting any plans Harry and Meghan had for it.

Sources suggest that the multi-story mansion is no longer on the cards for the Sussexes following their departure from the royal family earlier this year.

Instead, it is likely to be passed down to one of Charles' grandchildren, with George being the frontrunner.

This decision aligns with Charles' broader plan to streamline the royal estate and make many lavish residences accessible to the public.

Insiders close to the future king, aged 72, revealed that most of Buckingham Palace will be opened up, leaving Charles to reside in a more modest flat above the main premises, similar to the prime minister's residence at Downing Street.

Currently, the palace boasts 52 normal bedrooms and 188 staff bedrooms, comprising the monarch's living quarters.

A friend of Charles emphasized that despite his apparent reluctance to live there, he will have accommodation within Buckingham Palace.

Furthermore, Charles envisions repurposing Balmoral into a museum dedicated to the queen after her reign.

The central focus of his plan is to ensure that, once the queen is no longer present, the royal family can effectively utilize a range of properties across generations while also offering value to the public.

The prince and the Duchess of Cornwall hold practical views on this matter, recognizing the importance of the reigning monarch residing at Buckingham Palace to prevent it from becoming a mere historical relic like Hampton Court.

While Charles intends to open up many royal residences to the public, it seems that some properties, such as Clarence House, will be retained within the estate for future generations of royals.

This potential move for young Prince George suggests that the family's legacy will continue to intertwine with these historic homes.
