Golden Globes Host Roasts Harry and Meghan: A Year of Laughter at Their Expense
The Golden Globes this year served up more than just dinner, as the host took a dig at none other than Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Hypocrisy.
For the couple, 2023 was a challenging year, with their reputation taking a hit from shows like South Park and Family Guy.
Unfortunately for them, it seems that their status as laughingstocks has now extended into 2024, courtesy of the Golden Globes host, Joe Coy.
Joe Coy, a stand-up comic, hosted the Golden Globes this year.
While his brand of woke humor wasn't necessarily well-received, he did manage to poke fun at the royal couple.
In his monologue, he joked about the TV show Succession, saying, “If you are a billionaire, none of them are going to be like you.
They're going to be a bad version of you.”
He also made a quip about the show being a great series about a rich, white, dysfunctional family, but quickly corrected himself, saying, “Oh, wait, that's the crown, I'm sorry.”
However, it was his joke about white people that garnered more attention.
He humorously stated, “White people stole everything.
Not like 97%—you guys stole 100% of everything.
You took the land.
You took the oil.
You took the premise of the movie.”
While some Hollywood stars found it amusing, Martin Scorsese reportedly wasn't impressed.
Despite the mixed reception to his jokes, Joe Coy's joke about Harry and Meghan seemed to resonate well with the audience.
He quipped, “Harry and Meghan Markle got paid millions for doing absolutely nothing.
And that's just by Netflix.”
The camera even zoomed in on Ted Sarandos, the CEO of Netflix, after the joke.
It's worth noting that neither Harry nor Meghan attended the ceremony.
If Harry and Meghan were hoping for a year of redemption in 2024, it seems they are sorely disappointed.
The media, once lenient towards them, has turned the tables.
People are growing tired of their toxic behavior and are now more inclined to mock them rather than sympathize.
The couple's actions have invited ridicule, and they can't seem to escape it.
While Meghan's absence from the Golden Globes was explained as a security concern and lack of nomination, it's clear that her presence wasn't missed.
Rumors of a Suits reunion were circulating, but Meghan's exclusion from the event suggests otherwise.
It seems her Hollywood career may be dwindling, and even a potential reboot of Suits might not include her.
As fans hoped for a surprise appearance, it became evident that Meghan's attempts at making a comeback were falling flat.
Her absence from the awards ceremony mirrored the Oscars, where rumors of her and Harry presenting turned out to be false.
The reality is that nobody wants them around anymore.
Speculation now turns to Montecito, where Harry and Meghan reside.
One can only imagine the tension behind closed doors.
Harry might have sought refuge elsewhere, while Meghan's temperament raises concerns about her behavior.
Her past displays of anger and entitlement paint a troubling picture, and it's no wonder people are wary.
As for their future, it appears increasingly bleak in Hollywood.
Harry may need to distance himself from Meghan if he hopes to salvage any remnants of his reputation.
While he can't escape his complicity, he could attribute his actions to being manipulated by Meghan.
However, whether the public will buy this narrative remains uncertain.
In 2024, it's essential for Harry and Meghan to address lingering questions.
They must clarify the truth about their children and apologize to the royal family for their actions.
Lastly, a divorce would bring closure to their tumultuous chapter.
The ball is in their court, but it seems unlikely they will change their ways.
What are your thoughts on Meghan's response to being roasted at the Golden Globes?
