Faces Backlash for Wearing Poppy at Veterans Event

faced a barrage of criticism on social media after wearing a red poppy to the inauguration of the new Navy Fitness Center in San Diego, accompanied by on November 8th.

The couple attended the opening of the Modern Warrior Fitness Program facility in Danson, San Diego, alongside members of the Navy Seals Foundation.

Both Meghan and Harry donned black outfits, with Meghan sporting a fitted ensemble featuring a black banner and a bright red poppy.

Harry also wore a poppy on his jacket lapel, as is customary in November to honor days of remembrance such as Armistice Day on November 11th, which pays tribute to those who sacrificed their lives defending their country during conflicts in the UK.

Throughout November, people in the UK wear poppies, including members of the Royal Family and the general public.

Sunday marks a significant national commemoration of fallen soldiers, observed with a ceremony at the Cenotaph War Memorial in London.

However, some online users took issue with Meghan's decision to wear a poppy in November, questioning the timing of her choice.

Additionally, some Americans pointed out that poppies are more commonly worn on Remembrance Day in May, in contrast to Veterans Day in November.

Twitter users expressed their disagreement with Meghan, with one accusing her of stealing the spotlight by wearing a poppy on an unrelated occasion.

Another user claimed that Meghan was wearing a unique poppy pin associated with the Royal British Legion.

However, there is currently no evidence to support this claim, as Meghan's pin does not correspond to any officially sold merchandise.

Furthermore, Meghan faced criticism for honoring American veterans with a British poppy.

It is worth noting that Harry has been appointed as a global ambassador for the British charity Scotty's Little Soldiers, which supports children who have lost their parents in the military.

In honor of Remembrance Sunday, Harry sent a message of support to the organization, emphasizing his long-standing association with them and his dedication to his role as a global ambassador.

The charity's mission is to provide support to grieving military children.

Despite Harry's previous statements downplaying the significance of his royal titles, some critics in Britain objected to his reference to his royal status in the letter.

This led to accusations that, despite his genuine commitment to humanitarian causes, he was exploiting his royal connections.

In other news, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly influenced many Hollywood figures to adopt a more austere lifestyle.

Jessica Taylor, in an article for the Daily Mail, highlighted the standoff between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family.

Since relocating to Montecito after stepping down as senior royals, Harry and Meghan have frequently been seen socializing with famous friends such as Katy Perry, Beyonce, David and Victoria Beckham, as well as the Clooneys, Idris Elba, and Edward Enniful.

However, according to Taylor, these high-profile friends are treading carefully, trying not to take sides in the ongoing royal rift that shows no signs of resolution anytime soon.
