Duke and Duchess of Wokes Excluded from Queen Elizabeth II’s Memorial at Balmoral
The Duke and Duchess of Wokes, Sussex, have been left out by King Charles from the one-year memorial for the late Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral next month.
Despite being in Europe for the Invictus Games, reports have emerged that Harry and Meghan have not received any communication from the royal family ahead of this event.
But was it the right decision to exclude them from the commemorations?
In my opinion, it certainly seems so.
Joining me now is royal expert Charles Wray to discuss this further.
Charles, thank you for being here.
I believe it's a good idea because it doesn't give them the opportunity to decline the invitation.
By giving them the chance to say no, it puts the power in their hands, and they've had enough of that already.
Absolutely, keeping Harry and Meghan away from the family is the best choice.
Harry has tried everything to bring peace, but it hasn't worked.
It's clear that he is a loving father, but enough is enough.
Excluding them entirely is the right decision.
Interestingly, today is the Duchess of Sussex's 42nd birthday, and not a single member of the royal family has publicly wished her a happy birthday.
This may be in response to the lack of well wishes for Camilla's birthday.
However, it's important to clarify that there is no actual memorial taking place.
The palace announced that the King will privately mark the day, which also happens to be the day he ascended to the throne.
Other members of the royal family will spend time quietly and privately at Balmoral throughout the summer, not necessarily on the anniversary itself.
This is similar to how Queen Elizabeth used to reflect on the death of her father, George VI, during her reign at Sandringham.
Despite Harry and Meghan's visit to Europe for the Invictus Games, they are not planning to come to England or Scotland at all.
It seems that nobody wants them here, including the family and the general public.
You're right.
Today's exclusion from the memorial is a great birthday present for Meghan, as it clearly shows that she is not welcome.
She has caused a lot of controversy, from the time when Prince Philip was dying to her accusations of racism within the royal family.
She has damaged one of the greatest institutions this country has ever produced.
So, congratulations to King Charles for finally standing up and showing some backbone.
This decision will surely boost his popularity.
The monarchy is currently in a good position, with Camilla doing a commendable job as the Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales being popular not only in the UK but also in America.
People can recognize what is genuine, and Prince Harry will eventually realize that the royal family will always be around, while transient figures like Meghan Markle come and go.
Absolutely, who knows what the future holds for this couple?
Their deals are falling apart, and Meghan's political aspirations seem to be going up in smoke.
Everything they touch seems to turn sour.
We had high hopes for them when they first arrived in the country, but they have turned their backs on us.
Now it's our turn to do the same.
Indeed, we cannot trust them.
Who's to say they wouldn't bring along a Netflix crew if they were invited?
And speaking of politics, it's worth mentioning that Joe Biden's activist sister has endorsed Meghan for a political career, even suggesting a run for the White House.
However, considering her recent troubles, it's questionable whether Prince Harry would have a chance as a first lady.
That's an interesting point.
Meghan has reportedly bombarded the Democratic governor of California with phone calls seeking advice, but he has now blocked her calls.
It seems things aren't going well for her.
If she were to become the president of the United States, it would only add to the existing problems with Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
Absolutely, we can only imagine what chaos she would bring.
And let's not forget, she previously mentioned being a hugger.
I wonder how that would work out when faced with someone like Putin.
It's clear that her actions and ambitions are driven by a desire for more screen time rather than genuine political aspirations.
Well said, Charlie.
Thank you for sharing your insights.
It's important to remember that this show is about you, our viewers.
In a recent Twitter poll, we asked if King Charles was right to exclude Harry and Meghan from next month's event.
The results are in, with 85.5% of you agreeing with the decision, while 14.5% disagree.
To those who disagree, feel free to email me and share your thoughts.
The royal family has extended olive branches time and time again, but it seems Harry and Meghan aren't interested.
It's time to move on.
