Duchess of Sussex’s Book Fails to Impress Critics and Readers

, the Duchess of Sussex, has recently released her new book titled “The Bench,” which draws inspiration from her husband and their son .

The book originated from a poem Meghan wrote for Father's Day and was officially launched today.

However, despite the anticipation surrounding its release, “The Bench” has failed to make a significant impact on the literary scene.

It currently sits at a disappointing 204th position on Amazon's bestsellers list and ranks 60th among children's books.

Critics have not been kind to Meghan's literary effort, with one reviewer even describing it as semi-literate.

Clare Allfrey, a critic from The Telegraph, expressed her disbelief that any publisher would deem it worthy of publication.

She criticized the book for its grammar-defying and poorly rhyming verses, questioning whether any child would find it appealing.

Allfrey further commented on the Sussexes' preoccupation with their personal brand, noting that Meghan portrays Harry as a mere spectator sitting on a bench while she takes on the world.

Alex Connell from The Times also offered scathing remarks about “The Bench.”

He likened it to a self-help manual for needy parents, highlighting its lack of action and suspense.

Connell even went so far as to suggest that the writing duties may have been delegated to an inanimate object.

These criticisms were echoed by readers on Amazon, where the book received numerous one-star reviews.

Many expressed their disappointment, finding the story dull and uninspiring.

Some believed it would have been better kept as a private family project rather than being published for a wider audience.

Interestingly, this underwhelming response to Meghan's book comes shortly after the Duchess of Cambridge, , released her own book, “Hold Still.”

Unlike “The Bench,” Kate's book quickly rose to the top of the bestsellers list on its release day and currently holds the second-highest ranking among all titles on Amazon.

“Hold Still” is a collection of poignant and personal portraits that capture the essence of our nation in 2020.
