Duchess of Sussex Upset by Pippa Middleton’s Initial Decision to Exclude Her from Wedding
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, was reportedly left upset by Pippa Middleton's initial choice not to invite her to her wedding, according to a royal commentator.
Camilla Tominey, in her analysis of the relationship between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, recalled reports surrounding the May 2017 wedding of James Matthews and Pippa Middleton.
Initially, Kate's sister declined to invite Meghan to the wedding, possibly fearing that she would steal the limelight as Prince Harry's girlfriend.
However, she later changed her mind and invited Meghan to the evening reception as a gesture of goodwill, as reported by Tominey in the Telegraph.
Tominey also mentioned that Kate and Prince William were displeased when the Sussexes rearranged the seating plan during the reception.
The couple had organized for no couples to sit together, but Meghan and Harry decided to move the name places at the table.
This action did not sit well with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The attendance of Meghan at Pippa's wedding was also discussed in the unofficial biography of Harry and Meghan, titled “Finding Freedom,” written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.
According to the authors, the media frenzy surrounding Meghan and Harry, even in the early stages of their relationship, made them reluctant additions to the guest list.
The book further claimed that both Pippa and her mother, Carol Middleton, privately held concerns that Meghan's presence alongside Harry might overshadow the main event.
However, the book clarified that Harry and Meghan had agreed that Meghan would not attend the church ceremony due to media reports about her physical appearance.
While Harry attended the wedding alone, Meghan participated in the subsequent party.
