The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Kate Middleton, have reportedly acknowledged their fractured relationship with and , leading to Sussex's removal from the line of succession.

The revelation comes after the royal family gathered to celebrate Kate's 40th birthday over the weekend.

Andrew Neill, former chair of GB News, disclosed this information in a Channel 5 documentary titled “2021: The Queen's Terrible Year.”

It has been two years since and announced their decision to step back from their royal duties and pursue financial independence while continuing to support Queen Elizabeth II.

They have since settled in Santa Barbara, California, with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

Andrew Neill further revealed in the Channel 5 documentary that and Kate have come to terms with the irreparable nature of the broken relationship.

It seems unlikely that any reconciliation will occur in the foreseeable future, and both parties will be going their separate ways.

Despite the rift, Prince Harry has returned to the UK from the US on two separate occasions.

The first was for the funeral of his grandfather, , who passed away at the age of 99 in April 2021.

Meghan, heavily pregnant with their second child, Lilibet, was unable to attend the funeral.

The second meeting took place in July to commemorate what would have been their late mother, 's 60th birthday.

During this event, a statue of Diana was unveiled at the Sunken Gardens in Kensington Palace, and Harry and William were observed engaging in deep conversations.

Stuart Purvis, a former TV executive and documentary producer, expressed that the media scrutiny of the grandchildren's interactions had affected the Queen.

He remarked in the Channel 5 documentary that it must be distressing for her to witness her grandsons' body language being constantly analyzed by the press.

The upcoming Platinum Jubilee, celebrating 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, may provide an opportunity for Harry and William to meet again this year.

The Sussexes' decision to leave the royal family and relocate to California created a rift that was further widened by their controversial interview with in March last year.

In the interview, Meghan and Harry made several claims against the royal family, including Harry's mention of a strained relationship with his brother.

He expressed hope that time would heal their current distance, acknowledging the challenges faced by his father and brother, who are bound by their royal roles.

Despite their differences, the brothers share a bond forged through their shared experiences, particularly the loss of their mother, , in 1997 when they were just teenagers.

Even during periods of harmony, both William and Harry have admitted to envying each other's roles.

In 2013, Harry revealed that William was envious of his ability to fly helicopters on the front line.

During a flight back to the UK after a 20-week tour of Afghanistan, Harry mentioned that there was a hint of jealousy from his older brother, stating that William would love to experience the same.
