Blackpink Honored with MBEs by King Charles at Buckingham Palace
In a remarkable turn of events, the popular K-pop group Blackpink received special honors from King Charles at Buckingham Palace.
Just hours after being acknowledged by the King at the Glittering State Banquet, the four members of the band, Rosanna Park, Rosé, Jenny Kim, and Lalisa Manoban, were invested as honorary members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
The ceremony took place in the presence of South Korean President Yoon Suk-il and First Lady Kim Kyung-hee.
The private investiture was held on Wednesday morning in the prestigious 1844 room at Buckingham Palace.
The UK government recommended the honors as a result of Blackpink's vocal support for the campaign to raise awareness about climate change.
This recognition further solidifies their status as the most successful all-female pop band in the world.
During the changing of the guard, the military band of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards played music from Blackpink, paying tribute to the band's achievements.
Kourtney, one of the band members, shared a video of the performance on social media, captioning it with a clever play on words from the movie Mean Girls: “On Wednesdays, we play Blackpink.”
Meanwhile, across the globe, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made headlines once again.
The ex-royals were spotted in Vancouver, where they posed for a photo with a woman and her son during lunch.
The delighted duo stumbled upon the couple, and the little boy's excitement was evident as he spread his arms wide open to greet them.
The heartwarming snapshot, believed to have been taken recently, captured Meghan crouching down to engage with the mother and son, while Harry stood casually with a smile.
The image was shared on Instagram by a fan account, Duchess of Sussex, who mentioned that the encounter took place while the family was getting some food.
The caption read, “The Sussexes pictured with a woman and a son during lunchtime in Vancouver.
And this happened today during lunch.
Super nice couple.
Welcome to #VancouverBC.”
However, not everyone was impressed by Harry and Meghan's impromptu meeting.
Critics accused the couple of seeking attention and competing for press coverage.
One social media user commented, “The Harkles are really going for the cheap counterfeit knock-off brand.
Here you have King Charles with the famous K-pop group, and then you have the Harkles posing with a random Korean woman with a child to compete for press attention.
Tragic through and through.”
Despite the controversy surrounding their actions, Blackpink's honorary MBEs mark a significant milestone in their already successful career.
The band's influence and popularity continue to soar, and this recognition will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the highlights of their journey.
On the other hand, Harry and Meghan's recent actions have garnered mixed reactions, potentially damaging their future relationships with real celebrities and royalty.
As they strive to establish their own path away from the British royal family, it remains to be seen how their choices will shape their public image in the long run.
