Bethany Frankel Criticizes Meghan Markle Ahead of Oprah Interview
Reality TV star Bethany Frankel has wasted no time in expressing her thoughts on Meghan Markle's upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey.
While the highly-anticipated interview, where Meghan and Prince Harry are expected to discuss their controversial decision to step back from their royal duties, has yet to be aired, Bethany has already voiced her opinions on the matter.
Unlike many other celebrities, it is clear that Bethany is not on Team Meghan.
The controversy began when a Twitter user's tweet triggered Bethany, prompting her to respond with a dismissive comment, “Cry me a river.”
She went on to highlight what she perceives as the irony of Meghan's situation, stating, “From being a game show host and a relatively unknown actress, to living in a palace and having extravagant weddings for two whole years, to becoming a household name with Oprah on speed dial, fetching 7 million dollars for interviews and securing hundreds of millions in media deals.”
Contrary to rumors, it has been reported by the Wall Street Journal that Meghan and Harry will not be receiving any compensation for the interview.
A representative from Oprah's Harpo Productions also confirmed that no payment or licensing fees were made to the couple or their foundation.
However, Bethany was not convinced, asserting that doing an interview is not the appropriate way to limit press coverage or gain the privacy they desire.
In comparing her own life and career to Meghan's, Bethany emphasized that she willingly chose the reality TV path to make money, fully aware of the scrutiny and criticism that would come along with it.
She likened her situation to a rose with both petals and thorns, acknowledging that people often strive to enter the toxic institution she willingly signed up for.
Despite the challenges, Bethany stated that she accepted the consequences because it was the life she had chosen.
Bethany's comments starkly contrast with the supportive messages shared by numerous other celebrities on social media, who have commended Meghan for her bravery.
This comes in the wake of Buckingham Palace's announcement that it is investigating allegations of bullying made against Meghan by former royal staffers.
Patrick J. Adams, Meghan's former co-star on the TV show “Suits,” recently defended her on Twitter, expressing his disgust at the racist and slanderous treatment she has faced from various media outlets across the UK and the world.
He also expressed confidence in Meghan's strength, asserting that people would regret underestimating her.
Furthermore, a longtime friend and colleague of Meghan, who has known her for 14 years, took to Instagram to share her support.
In a heartfelt post, she wrote, “In the face of darkness, she shows up in light and in love.
When they go low, she goes high.”
