Archie Harrison and LittleBit Diana Unlikely to Receive Royal Titles, Expert Says

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have two children – Archie, aged 3, and LittleBit, aged 1.

In a recent interview, Role Expert Richard Fitzwilliam shared his thoughts on the possibility of Archie and LittleBit receiving royal titles.

However, following the couple's eviction from Frogmore, it is now highly unlikely that the two youngsters will be granted such titles.

According to Fitzwilliam, this decision has significant repercussions for the Duke and Duchess' children.

He stated that it means Archie and Lily, as they are commonly known, are highly unlikely to be granted titles in the future.

Fitzwilliam also noted that the couple and their children's visits to Britain are infrequent, further complicating the matter.

Archie and LittleBit were not initially granted the titles of Prince and Princess upon their births, as they were great-grandchildren of the monarch.

However, with Charles now on the throne and the children being grandchildren of the monarch, guidelines have changed.

Under current guidelines, grandchildren of a monarch in the male line, specifically the children of the king's sons, are entitled to take a prince or princess title.

This has sparked a debate over Archie and LittleBit's titles or lack thereof.

Fitzwilliam explained that the ultimate decision regarding royal titles lies with the king.

The rule regarding royal titles was established by King George in 1917, stating that the grandchildren of the sons of the sovereign in the direct male line, with the exception of the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales, shall have and enjoy the style and title enjoyed by the children of the Dukes, Theses, or Realms.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer senior royals and do not reside in the UK.

Currently, Archie and LittleBit are sixth and seventh in line to the throne, according to the official line of succession.

On the royal family's website, Archie is listed as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, while LittleBit is listed as Miss LittleBit Mountbatten-Windsor.

When Archie was born in 2019, his parents chose not to use the courtesy title, Earl of Dumbarton, and instead named him Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, aiming to provide him with a more private life.

LittleBit, born in 2021, is set to turn two in June and was born in the US, where her parents currently reside.

The issue of royal titles has been a contentious one for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as they have sought to distance themselves from the royal family and its traditions.

However, as Fitzwilliam points out, the decision ultimately lies with the king.

It remains to be seen whether Archie and Lily will receive the titles of Prince and Princess in the future.
