Archbishop of Canterbury Takes Aim at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during Queen Elizabeth II’s Funeral
The funeral sermon for Queen Elizabeth II, held on Monday, has caused quite a stir due to the words spoken by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.
During the ceremony, Welby seemed to direct his remarks towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the estranged royals.
Many royal watchers accused the religious leader of throwing shade at King Charles III's younger son and his daughter-in-law.
While praising the Queen for her loving service, Welby made a seemingly savage remark about those who cling to power and privileges.
He stated, “Leaders of loving service are still rarer, but in all cases, those who serve will be loved and remembered when those who cling to power and privileges are forgotten.”
In footage of the sermon, the Archbishop appeared to be looking directly at the section of Westminster Abbey where Harry and Meghan were seated behind the new king.
Online users who caught wind of this biting comment speculated that it was aimed at the controversial couple due to their repeated criticism of the royal family since stepping back from their senior royal duties in March 2020.
Additionally, an expert suggested that King Charles himself sent a clear message to the world regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which can be seen as a public snubbing of Harry's royal status.
Last week, it was announced that Prince Harry would not be permitted to wear his military uniform at the Queen's funeral.
However, a spokesperson for Harry clarified that he would be wearing a mourning suit throughout the events honoring his grandmother, emphasizing that his military service should not be defined by the uniform he wears.
Buckingham Palace later reversed its decision and allowed Harry to wear his military uniform at the vigil in Westminster Hall on Saturday, but not at Monday's service.
According to brand expert Eric Schiffer, Chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, this move by the royal family speaks volumes about their feelings towards the Sussexes.
Schiffer stated, “The King's ban on Harry's military uniform at Her Majesty's funeral was a missile from the royal family.
It made clear Harry's stature and relationship with the royal family remain in the septic muck.
The King sent a brutal message that the excruciating pain Harry and Meghan caused him and his mother would not be forgotten.”
While the royal family did not force Harry to wear a “royal colored straight jacket,” the absence of his military attire can be seen as a public emasculation.
This decision puts the royal family's resentment of Harry, who is perceived by many as a backstabbing defector, on global display.
Meanwhile, during Fox's live reporting of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, Piers Morgan took the opportunity to criticize Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Morgan claimed that the couple had made the Queen's life difficult during the last two years of her reign.
This uncensored comment came during a conversation with Sharon Osbourne as the Queen's coffin was being transported to Windsor, her final resting place.
Morgan went on to speculate that Harry's decision to step away from his royal duties and move to California was an attack on Camilla Parker Bowles, whom Harry still blames for the breakup of his parents' marriage.
Later in the live program, he compared Meghan to Wallis Simpson, the American woman who had a relationship with King Edward VIII and played a role in his abdication from the throne in 1936.
