Amelia Wickstead Criticizes Meghan Markle’s Wedding Dress and Hairstyle

Amelia Wickstead, the London-based fashion designer known for her pretty and feminine dresses, has recently made headlines for her comments about 's wedding dress and hairstyle.

Wickstead, who is a favorite of Catherine, the Princess of Wales, and has also dressed Markle in the past, expressed her disappointment with the choice of dress for the royal wedding.

Although Wickstead was initially rumored to be a possible designer for the wedding dress, the job ultimately went to Claire Waight Keller and the House of Givenchy.

Markle's minimalist gown featured a boat neck and three-quarter sleeves, which apparently drew some similarities to one of Wickstead's own designs.

“Her dress is identical to one of our dresses,” Wickstead reportedly said.

Wickstead didn't stop at criticizing the dress; she also commented on Markle's overall appearance on the wedding day.

According to Wickstead, if you choose a simple design, the fit should be perfect, but she felt that Markle's dress was quite loose.

She also expressed her dissatisfaction with Markle's hairstyling, stating, “I was like, hold the wisps of her hair back, it's a royal wedding for God's sake.”

However, Wickstead later took back her comments and issued an official statement on Instagram.

She expressed sadness over the commentary that had appeared in the press and online, emphasizing that she thought the Duchess of Sussex looked absolutely beautiful on her wedding day.

Wickstead also clarified that she did not believe Markle's dress was a copy of any of her designs.

Interestingly, Wickstead is not the only one who criticized Markle's wedding dress.

Pop star Katy Perry also had something to say about it, suggesting that Markle needed one more fitting.

When asked about her opinion on the dress, Perry mischievously winked at the camera and advised, “I would have done one more fitting.”

The criticism of Markle's wedding dress didn't stop there.

Many royal watchers described it as plain, boring, ill-fitting, and not regal enough.

Some even questioned the choice of a pure white gown, as traditionally, a white dress symbolizes a woman's purity and virginity on her wedding day.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl revealed in her book, “The New Royals,” that the late Queen had reservations about the pure white dress, expecting Markle to opt for an off-white gown like did when she married Charles.

Nicholl suggested that the Queen's surprise at Markle's choice of color might be a generational difference, as she believed that if someone had been previously married, they should wear off-white on their wedding day.

According to a royal insider, Markle had also enjoyed freebies from designer brands, even while being a part of the royal family.

It was revealed that she used her now-defunct blog, The Tig, to receive luxury goods for free.

While these comments and criticisms have caused a stir, it is important to note that 's wedding dress was ultimately a personal choice, and opinions on fashion will always vary.

The Duchess of Sussex looked radiant on her special day, and the focus should remain on celebrating love and unity rather than dissecting every aspect of her attire.
