Adam Driver’s Hilarious SNL Sketch Takes a Playful Jab at Meghan Markle
In a recent episode of Saturday Night Live, actor Adam Driver brought his comedic talents to the forefront with a sketch that playfully poked fun at Meghan Markle.
Known for his roles in Star Wars and Marriage Story, Driver hosted SNL for the fourth time on December 9, 2023, and his performance in this particular sketch left a lasting impression on the season.
The sketch parodied the reality show The First 48, with Driver taking on the role of a baby who becomes a murder suspect on his very first flight.
Cleverly satirizing the controversies surrounding Meghan Markle, the former royal who has faced accusations of faking her pregnancy and using a surrogate for her son, Archie, the sketch opened with a voiceover emphasizing the critical nature of the first 48 hours in any homicide investigation, with 95% of cases being resolved within that time frame.
The scene then shifted to an airplane, where two detectives, played by Kenan Thompson and Iko Nwodim, were questioning passengers about a deceased individual found in the bathroom.
Approaching a couple, portrayed by Beck Bennett and Cicely Strong, who were holding a baby played by Driver in a carrier, the detectives inquired about any suspicious observations.
While the couple denied witnessing anything unusual, their baby, named Archie, caught the detectives' attention due to his unusually large size and hairy appearance for a six-month-old infant.
Growing skeptical, the detectives requested the baby's passport.
To their surprise, the couple provided a counterfeit document featuring Driver's face and the name Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Realizing that the baby was no ordinary infant but a grown man in disguise, the detectives accused the couple of being imposters attempting to smuggle something onto the plane.
Their request to see the baby out of the carrier was met with reluctance, but when Driver emerged, he was wearing a diaper, a bonnet, and even brandished a knife.
Shockingly, he confessed to being the murderer, citing his anger over someone taking the last bag of peanuts.
Claiming a peanut allergy as his motivation, he wanted to ensure no one else could have them.
In a bizarre turn of events, Driver invited the detectives to play with him, requested a diaper change, and even asked them to wipe his backside.
Unfazed by Driver's antics, the detectives apprehended him and the couple, escorting them off the plane in handcuffs.
As Driver began crying, he claimed that Meghan Markle was his mother and had hired him to pretend to be her baby.
He alleged receiving a substantial payment but had never met his father, Prince Harry.
Expressing a desire to meet Harry someday, Driver mentioned hearing that he was a nice guy.
The sketch concluded with a voiceover announcing the closure of the case in just 47 hours, with the baby being sentenced to life in prison and the couple being deported to Canada.
Meghan Markle remained elusive, leading to a humorous caption beneath a photo of Markle holding Driver in his baby disguise, asking, “Have you seen this woman?”
This sketch expertly blended humor with a satirical take on the conspiracy theories and rumors surrounding Meghan Markle's pregnancy and Archie's origins.
Adam Driver showcased his comedic prowess, perfectly embodying the facial expressions, voice, and body language of a baby while delivering witty lines and gestures.
