Senior Royals Reunite at Windsor Castle After Months Apart During Lockdown

Senior members of the Royal Family have been reunited after months of being apart during the lockdown.

Prince William and his wife Catherine made a stop at Windsor Castle on Tuesday afternoon, marking the end of their two-day long royal train tour across the country.

They were warmly greeted by the Queen, Prince Charles, Camilla (Duchess of Cornwall), Prince Edward, Sophie, and Prince Anne.

The purpose of this gathering was to pay tribute to the key workers, care staff, and volunteers who have tirelessly helped the vulnerable in the community surrounding the castle.

Throughout the pandemic, the Royal Family has been separated, with the Queen spending most of her time at Windsor Castle while her husband remained at Sandringham.

Due to the ongoing situation, the castle has been aptly referred to as HMS Bubble, with only a skeleton crew of staff to minimize exposure to the monarch.

The appearance of the 94-year-old Queen alongside her son Prince Charles and other senior members of the monarchy is the first time they have been seen together in public since the coronavirus took hold in March.

Notably absent from the gathering were Prince Philip, who retired from royal duties in 2017 and is rarely seen in public, and Prince Andrew, who withdrew from public life due to his association with Geoffrey Epstein.

Despite the wintry conditions, the Queen stood on the steps of the Escury's entrance in the castle's quadrangle, listening to the Regent Hall Band of the Salvation Army playing Christmas carols.

Four small Christmas trees adorned with white lights were placed on each side of the steps, creating a festive atmosphere.

The Queen appeared joyful as she was surrounded by her family members.

She wore a vibrant red coat, complemented by a matching hat, black gloves, and her trademark Launa handbag.

The Duchess of Cambridge opted for a dark green coat with a faux fur neckline, adding to the elegance of the special royal gathering.

Prince William, Catherine, Charles, Camilla, Anne, Edward, and Sophie took advantage of the occasion to meet and greet local volunteers and key workers from various organizations and charities in Berkshire.

These individuals will be volunteering or working to assist others during the Christmas period.

Windsor Castle serves as the first stop on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's tour of England, Scotland, and Wales via the Royal Train.

Throughout this tour, they have been paying tribute to the remarkable work carried out by individuals and organizations in response to the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier today, the couple revealed their ongoing struggle to finalize their Christmas plans.

During a visit to Cardiff University, they shared their uncertainty about who to spend the festive season with, especially since the Queen recently made the decision to cancel the annual family gathering at Sandringham.

“It is so difficult; we are still trying to make plans,” William expressed.

“It's difficult to know what to do for the best.”
