Prince Philip Recovers at King Edward VII Hospital Following Heart Surgery

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, is currently recuperating at King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone after undergoing heart surgery at St Bartholomew's Specialist Cardiac Centre.

This comes after his 14-day stay at the private King Edward VII Hospital last month for an infection.

According to a statement from the Palace, the Duke was transferred back to King Edward VII Hospital following a successful procedure at St Bartholomew's Hospital on Wednesday.

He is expected to remain in the hospital for further treatment in the coming days.

While his current condition is unknown, experts suggest that the move from one of the UK's largest critical care hospitals is a positive sign.

The Duke was initially admitted to King Edward VII Hospital on February 16th after feeling unwell at Windsor Castle.

Four days later, his eldest son, Prince Charles, made a visit to the hospital, spending around 30 minutes with his father before leaving with tears in his eyes.

It is believed that Charles wanted to see Philip, especially considering his extended hospital stay.

Due to nationwide coronavirus restrictions, Charles had not seen his father since before Christmas, as the Duke had been staying at Windsor Castle.

The Royal Family has not officially commented on Charles' visit, but it serves as a poignant reminder of his heartfelt admission about his father during the pandemic last year.

Like many others, Prince Charles has experienced the challenges of being separated from his family during the lockdown, particularly his father, Prince Philip.

Last year, due to the ongoing pandemic, Charles and his wife, Duchess Camilla, remained at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire instead of spending special occasions with the Queen and Prince Philip at Sandringham.

In an interview with Sky News, Charles shared his personal struggles, expressing his sadness at not being able to see his father and grandchildren.

He mentioned that he had been using FaceTime to stay connected, but emphasized that it's not the same as being able to give someone a hug.

Prince William, Charles' eldest son, has been in lockdown with his wife Catherine and their children at their Amner Hall home in Norfolk.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry is isolating with his wife Meghan and their son Archie in Santa Barbara.

Prince Charles, who previously tested positive for the virus, acknowledged that he was fortunate to have experienced a mild case.
