No Inheritance for Traitor: Kate Receives New Title, Princess of Wales
In a surprising turn of events, Catherine, the Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge, has been bestowed with the title of Princess of Wales by King Charles III.
This marks the first time a royal has held this prestigious title since Princess Diana.
The announcement came during King Charles' address to the United Kingdom on Friday, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022.
During his heartfelt speech, King Charles III expressed his love for his family and specifically addressed Prince William and Kate.
Referring to Kate as Princess of Wales, he stated, “As my heir, William now assumes the Scottish titles which have meant so much to me.
He succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and takes on the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall which I have undertaken for more than five decades.
Today, I am proud to create him Prince of Wales, to Wessog Cymru, the country whose title I have been so greatly privileged to bear during so much of my life and duty.
With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the centre ground where vital help can be given.”
While Camilla, by virtue of her marriage to Charles, held the title of Princess of Wales, she chose not to use it out of respect for Diana.
According to the official website for the Prince of Wales, the title is typically passed on when the existing Prince of Wales ascends to the throne.
However, it is not automatically inherited, meaning that Prince William and Kate will only receive the titles if Charles decides to bestow them.
Royal Editor at the Sunday Times, Royan Icar, quoted a source who revealed that William and Kate are focused on gaining the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time.
The source emphasized that the new Prince and Princess of Wales will approach their roles with modesty and humility, just as they have done in their previous work.
The source also mentioned that Kate, while appreciating the historical significance of the role, is eager to carve her own path for the future.
In addition to being named Princess of Wales, Prince William was also recently given the title of Duke of Cornwall by the Duchy of Cornwall.
In a statement, it was expressed that the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the succession of King Charles III marked the transition of the title of the Duke of Cornwall to Prince William.
During his address, King Charles also made mention of Prince Harry and Meghan, expressing his love for them as they continue to build their lives overseas.
Meanwhile, Kate was spotted driving in Windsor on September 9, while Prince William and Prince Harry traveled to the Queen's Balmoral estate in Scotland to be by her side during her illness.
As we bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth II and witness the rise of King Charles III, the future looks promising for Prince William and Kate as they embrace their new roles as the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Their dedication to the people of Wales and their humble approach to their duties are sure to earn them the trust and respect they seek.
While honoring the history associated with their titles, they will undoubtedly forge their own path and contribute to the future of the monarchy.
