Princess Charlotte Set to Inherit Prestigious Royal Title

However, her status is expected to become even more majestic when becomes king.

According to the Mirror, Princess Charlotte is set to be bestowed with the title of Princess Royal.

The title of Princess Royal has traditionally been given to the eldest daughter of the monarch.

It was introduced in the 1600s to mirror the French royal title of Madame Royale.

The current Princess Royal is , the only daughter of II, who was granted the title in 1987.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe explained that this title is held for life, meaning Princess Charlotte will have to wait until the death of the current Princess Royal to assume the prestigious role.

It is interesting to note that herself was never known as the Princess Royal.

This is because her aunt, Princess Mary, held the title during her lifetime.

As a result, Queen Elizabeth was referred to as Princess Elizabeth before ascending to the throne.

Similarly, despite being a member of the royal family, Princess Charlotte is known by a different name, Charlotte Cambridge, while attending Thomas School in Battersea.

This naming convention follows the historical tradition of using the father's titles as surnames.

Her older brother, Prince George, is also known as George Cambridge at the school, and once he starts studying, will go by Louis Cambridge.

This practice of adopting the father's title as a surname was also followed by Princess Charlotte's father, Prince William, and her uncle, .

Both princes used the surname “Wales” while in school and in the military, reflecting their father's title as the Prince of Wales.

Furthermore, when Prince Charles ascends to the throne, Prince William and Duchess Kate may also see a change in their titles.

Currently known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William would inherit his father's title of the Prince of Wales.

According to Mr. Sean, a reliable source, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, is eager for Harry to be invited to her and William's joint birthday party.

Express.co.uk conducted a poll asking readers whether they believed Harry and Meghan should be invited to the joint party.

Out of the 8,072 respondents, a vast majority of 89% (7,160 people) answered no, stating that Harry and Meghan should not receive an invitation.

Meanwhile, 10% (810 people) expressed that they should be invited, and only 1% (112 people) remained undecided.
