Meghan Markle Faces Backlash for Using Royal Title in Letter to US Lawmakers

, the Duchess of Sussex, has caused controversy by using her royal title in a letter to US lawmakers.

This move has prompted a strong reaction on social media, with many expressing their disapproval.

One Twitter user, @peterlendparis, even drew a parallel to the American War of Independence, stating that it is the first time an English royal title has been used to lobby politicians in a republic that fought for its independence from the crown through a violent revolution in 1776.

The sentiment among some Twitter users is that the British royalty's influence in the United States has gone too far, leading to calls for intervention from diplomats on both sides.

Several Twitter users voiced their concerns about the appropriateness of 's actions.

@sb58594981 commented that it was “so inappropriate,” while @royalayin described it as “very unappropriate behavior” from a member of the royal family.

However, they also noted that intervention would only be necessary if Markle were to involve herself in delicate, divisive, and politically sensitive matters.

Another user, @floridaflaming3, emphasized the need to address the issue, asserting that British royalty should not interfere in the US government.

As part of their agreement during Megxit, and Meghan Markle retained their Sussex titles but agreed to stop using their HRH styles.

Royal commentator Dylan Howard explained that II took back the titles when they decided to step away from their royal duties.

Despite this, the couple has continued to publicly support notable causes such as paternity leave for US mothers and climate change.

In a 2021 documentary titled “Secrets of the Royal: The Markles vs the Monarchy,” Howard expressed his belief that Harry wanted to live a life free of responsibility while still making a difference.

However, being isolated from the royal family in another country puts the monarchy at risk, leaving the Queen with no choice but to strip them of their titles.

Furthermore, Republicans are now urging Meghan Markle to focus on acting and challenging the royal family to officially strip her of her title following her recent letter.

Representative Jason Smith, R-MO, questioned why the royal family has not taken action against Markle and Harry, particularly since she continues to use her Duchess of Sussex title.

He criticized Markle's attempt to appeal to working-class families by mentioning her experiences at Sizzler, calling it laughable.

Smith argued that her comments indicate that the proposed tax and spend bill is more about benefiting global elites with tax breaks rather than helping the working families she claims to understand.

The letter sent by Markle, which was written on the Sussexes' own letterhead, has sparked rumors that she is using the tactics of an aspiring politician to lobby two senior Washington figures regarding Joe Biden's proposed parental and sick-leave legislation.

Representative Lisa McLean, R-MI, expressed her disapproval, stating that Markle is out of touch with the American people and should stick to acting instead of playing politics.

McLean emphasized that wealthy celebrities pushing their liberal agendas on the American people is the last thing the country needs right now.

It is worth noting that last October, Representative Smith had already requested that the Crown strip Harry and Meghan of their titles due to their interference in the US election.

Royal author Robert Jobson believes that the Queen was aware of Markle's political views and ambition, which could potentially become embarrassing for the monarchy.

While the letter may be seen as controversial, Jobson argues that Meghan has every right to lobby officials because she holds US citizenship.

He suggests that this is precisely what the Queen feared, as Markle is now free to express her political views and ambitions openly.

Although Jobson acknowledges that Markle is pushing boundaries, he does not expect a strong backlash from the royal family.

He reveals that Markle has always been politically inclined, even writing letters to Hillary Clinton since the age of seven.
