Sussex’s Christmas Card Goes Missing as William and Kate Make Significant Decision for the Holidays
Prince William and Kate Middleton have finalized their plans for Christmas 2021, as the Royal Family's traditional festive gathering faces another disruption due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Normally, members of the Royal Family come together at Sandringham, the Queen's estate in Norfolk, during the holiday season.
However, for the second consecutive year, the family's plans have been thwarted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Consequently, Queen Elizabeth II has had to deviate from her usual royal tradition and celebrate the festivities at Windsor Castle instead of Sandringham.
A palace source revealed that Her Majesty's decision to cancel the gathering was a personal one, driven by a precautionary approach in light of the spread of the Omicron COVID variant.
In the midst of this news, the first public photo of Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor has taken the internet by storm, with royal fans noticing striking similarities between the young princess and Queen Elizabeth II.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, chose the festive season to introduce their daughter to the world, months after her birth in June this year.
The couple unveiled the long-awaited Christmas card, featuring a heartwarming image of Lilibet.
However, recent reports suggest that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, both aged 39, will adhere to tradition and celebrate the holiday in Norfolk as usual.
The couple is expected to spend Christmas Day at Anmer Hall, their residence in Norfolk, accompanied by their three children: eight-year-old Prince George, six-year-old Princess Charlotte, and three-year-old Prince Louis.
It is also rumored that some members of the Middleton family will join them.
Kate's mother, Carol, previously shared details about how their family celebrates the festive season in an interview with The Telegraph in 2018.
She mentioned their tradition of having multiple Christmas trees in their home, including one in each of her grandchildren's rooms, to allow them to decorate it themselves.
Last year, due to pandemic restrictions, the Cambridges celebrated the festivities as a family of five, adhering to lockdown regulations that prohibited households from mixing.
Traditionally, the public greets the royal family and extends their well-wishes for the festive season and New Year.
In 2019, Prince William and Kate's daughter, Princess Charlotte, stole the show when she embraced a well-wisher after attending a church service.
This year's occasion could be particularly special for the Cambridges if they decide to attend, as it may mark Prince Louis' first appearance during the annual walk to church.
Princess Charlotte was four years old when she joined her parents on the walk, while Prince George made his first visit at the age of six.
However, ongoing disruptions caused by the rising cases of the Omicron variant might delay Prince Louis' debut until 2022.
The Sussexes' festive card showcases a joyful family portrait featuring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Lilibet, and her elder brother Archie.
The card was shared on their Archule website, accompanied by a message that reads, “Happy holidays from our Archule family to yours.”
Royal fans have responded overwhelmingly positively to Lilibet's first public photo, praising her as beautiful and the cutest thing ever.
One online commenter remarked, “Such a beautiful family.
Archie and Lilibet Diana are just beautiful.”
Another expressed, “What a lovely photo.
It's so natural, carefree, and exudes fun, happiness, and love, showing that the whole family is thriving.”
Many excited fans have drawn comparisons between Lilibet and Queen Elizabeth II, with one person stating, “Lovely photo, and they all look very happy.
Lilibet has the Queen's smile, and Archie resembles a mini Harry.”
Another person commented, “She is a mini Queen.
So cute.”
A third individual noted, “Her smile looks just like Her Majesty's.
Merry Christmas to you all.”
