Rebel Wilson’s BAFTA Jokes about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview Met with Awkward Laughter

Rebel Wilson, known for her dry sense of humor, hosted the 2022 BAFTAs on BBC One.

As she took the stage to introduce the nominations for the film category, she couldn't resist making a joke about and 's infamous interview with .

Wilson quipped that the interview had it all, from drama to horror to fantasy.

However, she was met with awkward laughs and cringing looks from the audience, indicating that her joke didn't quite hit the mark.

This wasn't the first time Wilson poked fun at members of the Royal Family during the ceremony.

In one of her speeches, she mentioned a musical number she had planned about , titled “Pizza Express,” which she decided not to perform.

Instead, she humorously stated that she was saving her voice for the sequel to Cats.

Wilson's jibes at the Royal Family sparked mixed reactions among BAFTA viewers, who took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Rupert Massey expressed his discomfort with Wilson's hosting, tweeting, “OMG.

I can't watch Rebel Wilson present.

I have switched channels.

#BAFTAs.”

Another user named Dave felt that Wilson had been set up to fail as the host, describing some moments as painful to watch.

However, not everyone shared these sentiments.

Paul Zeehofer praised Wilson's performance, stating that she was “smashing it” at the BAFTAs.

Later in the ceremony, addressed viewers through a pre-recorded message since he couldn't attend the event in person at the Royal Albert Hall.

Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart, who portrays Harry's mother, , in the film Spencer, revealed that she had no idea the Sussexes had moved to Montecito, California.

Despite doing extensive research on for her role, Stewart seemed unaware of Harry and Meghan's relocation.

During an interview for Vanity Fair's Hollywood 2022 issue, Stewart expressed her surprise upon learning about the couple's new residence.

She humorously remarked, “That's so funny.

I wonder where.”

Stewart admitted that she hadn't kept up with the news and thought Harry and Meghan still lived in Kensington Palace.

She then acknowledged that Santa Barbara, where they currently reside, is a beautiful place.

Stewart also mentioned catching glimpses of Harry and Meghan's CBS special with , which was filmed in Southern California.

However, she admitted that she couldn't watch the entire interview due to the personal nature of her portrayal of Harry's mother in Spencer.

Stewart described it as “almost too hot to touch” at the time.

On another note, there have been reports that the royal couple has been invited to this year's Academy Awards ceremony.

However, it seems that Harry is not keen on attending.

The reason behind his reluctance is said to be Stewart's nomination in the Best Actress category for her role as Diana in Spencer, a film that Harry reportedly disapproves of.

Despite Harry's reservations, Meghan is eager to return to the Hollywood scene.

As Rebel Wilson's jokes about and 's Oprah interview fell flat at the BAFTAs, viewers had mixed reactions.

Kristen Stewart, who portrays Princess Diana in Spencer, revealed her lack of knowledge about the Sussexes' move to California.

While there are rumors of the couple being invited to the Oscars, Harry's disapproval of the film and Meghan's desire to attend create some tension.
