Eugenie’s Support Helps Ease Royal Rift with Harry
Prince Harry's strained relationship with the royal family is reportedly being mediated by Princess Eugenie, according to royal author Katie Nicholl.
Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have been close to Harry and Meghan Markle since the early days of their romance, making them well-positioned to help mend the rift.
Nicholl stated, “They were close from the start, and I think they recognize that Harry has been ostracized by some members of the family.
I think they also see they're in a position to try and act as peacemakers and diffuse the situation, which they tried to do at the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.”
Since the birth of his daughter, Lilibet, on June 4, 2021, Prince Harry has only returned to the UK once.
He attended the unveiling of a statue honoring his late mother, Princess Diana, at Kensington Palace.
Meanwhile, Meghan remained in the US with their children.
Due to pandemic restrictions and security concerns, Lilibet has yet to meet many of her royal relatives, including the Queen, Prince Charles, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Despite the physical distance, the Queen reportedly had a video call with her great-granddaughter, Lilibet.
The baby's name was inspired by the Queen's childhood nickname.
Lilibet was born at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and is currently eighth in line to the throne, following her older brother, Archie.
The couple shared the first photo of Lilibet through their 2021 Christmas card.
Princess Eugenie recently made a public visit to Harry in California, becoming the first member of the royal family to do so.
They were spotted attending the Super Bowl together at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Eugenie, Jack, and their son August are currently residing at Frogmore Cottage, the Sussexes' former Windsor home.
Harry has stayed with them during his visits to the UK since stepping back from royal duties.
Sources suggest that Eugenie's close relationship with both Harry and the Queen could help facilitate a reconciliation between Harry and the rest of the royal family.
One source revealed, “Harry and Eugenie have always been close ever since they were children.
He always makes her laugh.
They share a sense of humor.
She is friends with Meghan too and was close to his two previous girlfriends, Chelsea Davy and Cressida Bonas.
It was Eugenie who helped set up Harry and Cressida.
She refuses to abandon him.
She is a very loyal lady.”
Royal expert Phil Dampier also believes that Eugenie could act as an intermediary between Harry and the royals.
Dampier stated, “They've always got on very well and been very close.
If there is going to be an emissary or an intermediary between Harry and the royal family back home, she could well fit the bill.
I'm sure when they met in LA, they would have talked about the situation, and I'm sure she'll be trying to smooth things over.”
During her visit to the US, Eugenie likely spent time with Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet at their Montecito home.
The close bond between Eugenie and Harry has been evident since their youth, and their recent meeting at the Super Bowl suggests that Harry is not completely isolated from the royal family.
While a full reconciliation may still be distant, Eugenie's involvement offers hope for healing the rift between Harry and the rest of the royals.
Her unique position as a trusted family member and friend to both parties could pave the way for tentative steps towards resolution.
