Meghan Markle’s Aunt Criticizes Duchess for Lack of Condolence After Uncle’s Death
Meghan Markle's aunt, Pam, has expressed her disappointment over the Duchess's failure to offer words of condolence following the passing of her uncle, Joseph J.J. Johnson, nearly three months ago.
Johnson, who was described as “magical” by Pam, died at the age of 72 on August 27 after battling congestive heart failure.
Pam, now a widow at 68, revealed that some family members are upset by Meghan's lack of communication since then.
Pam insisted that Meghan must be aware of her uncle's passing, as her mother, Doria, is aware of it and surely would have informed her.
She stated, “There's no way Meghan doesn't know.
Some of my family members are upset that she hasn't reached out.”
According to Pam, Meghan had a close relationship with their family and spent a significant amount of time with Joseph during her childhood.
Meghan's grandmother, Jeanette, who cared for her when Doria was occupied with work, also received support from Meghan when she suffered a stroke.
However, as Meghan grew up and pursued her acting career, the family gradually drifted apart, as often happens in many families.
Pam admitted that she hadn't spoken to her uncle since December 2017, and when Meghan married Prince Harry in May the following year, they were not invited to the wedding at Windsor Castle.
Pam expressed confusion over Meghan's potential anger regarding the release of beautiful family pictures, which showcased their close bond.
She believes it's time for forgiveness, if there's anything to forgive.
Joseph J.J. Johnson, an artist and sculptor, operated a successful studio near his home in Fresno, a four-hour drive from Meghan's hometown of Hollywood.
He and Pam were married for 41 years, but his health began to decline in recent months.
Despite this, he never stopped loving his niece.
Pam shared, “He truly admired Meghan and all that she'd achieved.
He was really proud of her, and if her name was mentioned in the news, he'd tell people, ‘Hey, that's my niece.'
That was a real joy for him.”
Unfortunately, a reconciliation with Meghan before his death was not possible, causing stress for Johnson.
Pam expressed her hope that Meghan would reach out now that Joseph has passed away, as he had hoped for a reconciliation himself.
These revelations come just days after Meghan's appearance on Elle magazine and a popular US talk show.
Four years ago, Joseph shared pictures that included a previously unseen image of Meghan as a five-year-old bridesmaid at her aunt Saundra's 1986 wedding.
At that time, he spoke about how Meghan was raised by two strong, proud black women, Doria and Jeanette, who overcame poverty in Cleveland, Ohio.
Joseph wanted the world to know the truth about Meghan's real family, her roots, and her upbringing.
Despite the falling out over the photographs, Joseph never ceased to love his niece.
Pam reiterated, “He was really proud of her, and if her name was mentioned in the news, he'd tell people, ‘Hey, that's my niece.'
That was a real joy for him.”
Pam hopes that Meghan will finally reach out to mend the rift between their families.
