Queen’s Busy 2022 Schedule Unveiled as Commonwealth Day Plans Announced

Queen Elizabeth II is set to have a packed schedule this year, as she gears up for a series of celebrations for her jubilee.

Following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step down as senior working royals and relinquish their roles within the association, the Queen is expected to take on additional duties for the Commonwealth.

The first details for the 2022 Commonwealth Day program have been revealed, with this year's event scheduled for March 14.

Both an in-person service at Westminster Abbey and virtual events will be held to commemorate the occasion.

As the head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth takes her role very seriously, and it is likely that she will play a significant part in the upcoming plans.

The official Commonwealth Twitter account and website shared the date, along with a description emphasizing the special focus on the role of service in the lives of people and communities across the Commonwealth, given that it is Her Majesty's Jubilee Year.

The theme for this year's event, “Delivering a Common Future,” aligns with the theme of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting.

The aim is to highlight how all Commonwealth nations are innovating, connecting, and transforming to achieve goals such as combating climate change, promoting good governance, and boosting trade.

Last year's Commonwealth Day celebration was canceled due to crowd size restrictions in place at the time.

However, a pre-recorded annual program titled “A Celebration for Commonwealth Day” was aired on March 7.

As Queen Elizabeth prepares to mark her Platinum Jubilee, she is already expected to participate in numerous events commemorating the milestone.

It remains to be seen whether there will be a royal presence at this year's Commonwealth Day service, as Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm.

However, members of the Royal Family, including the Queen, the Duke, and Duchess of Cambridge, have attended the annual event in the past.

In recent years, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have played leading roles in the service and presentations.

The 2020 Commonwealth Day service was also significant for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as it marked their final engagement before stepping back from their positions as senior working royals.

Although no Commonwealth tours have been announced for 2022 due to the ongoing pandemic, it is expected that some senior members of the Royal Family will undertake visits to commemorate the Queen's reign.

Previously, some of the responsibilities related to the Commonwealth were entrusted to Meghan Markle, 40, and Prince Harry, 37.

They served as President and Vice-President, respectively, of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust.

However, when they decided to step away from their royal duties, they also had to sever their ties with the Commonwealth and relinquish their titles as Commonwealth Youth Ambassadors.

In other news, Queen Elizabeth has launched her own line of premium tomato ketchup and brown sauce.

These products, however, come with a royal price tag.

The Queen's tomato sauce, which is described as perfect for breakfast or any time of the day, is being sold at her Sandringham Estate in Norfolk for a staggering £7 per bottle.

This is in stark contrast to Sainsbury's own brand, which is priced at just 60p.

The Queen's tomato sauce is flavored with dates, apple juice, and spices, and comes in an elegant glass jar with a Royal Estate label.

The accompanying description on the bottle highlights its delightful taste and suggests that it can add flavor to any dish.

Additionally, the Queen is offering a brown sauce for the same price.

This tomato-based sauce, packed with vinegar and spices, is said to be another favorite of Her Majesty.

However, it is worth noting that the Queen does not regularly use these condiments herself.

According to Darren McGrady, the Queen's former chef, the kitchen staff would occasionally prepare homemade versions of popular takeaway dishes for the Royal Family.

Despite this, fast food is not on the menu, so don't expect to see the Queen enjoying a Big Mac anytime soon.
