Queen’s Health Condition Raises Concerns Ahead of Platinum Jubilee
In a surprising turn of events, the Royal Palace has confirmed distressing news about Queen Elizabeth II's health condition.
As the official start of her Platinum Jubilee approaches, Her Majesty has yet to undertake any royal engagements this year.
Although the Queen has made a few public appearances since her arrival at Sandringham in late January, she has not ventured outside her residence for an official visit or carried out any engagements within the palace walls.
According to royal author Duncan Larcombe, this light schedule is a precautionary measure taken by courtiers to ensure the monarch's well-being during the upcoming months, allowing her to properly celebrate her historic jubilee.
Larcombe expressed that the Queen is eagerly looking forward to this year's celebrations, which serve as the focal point for the entire royal family.
Due to the cancellation of her Christmas outings, it has been a while since the public has seen Her Majesty in person.
However, she is simply taking it easy to ensure her full health for the festivities.
To avoid putting excessive pressure on the Queen, courtiers have encouraged her to focus on desk work.
However, in the coming months, it is expected that she will attend more virtual audiences.
This reduction in workload began a few months ago following doctors' orders.
On October 20, the palace announced the cancellation of her two-day trip to Northern Ireland, intended to commemorate the nation's centenary, to allow her a few days of rest.
On the same day, the Queen was admitted to King Edward VII's hospital for undisclosed preliminary tests.
Subsequently, other planned engagements outside of Windsor Castle, including her attendance at COP26, were also canceled.
Additionally, she was unable to participate in the National Service of Remembrance on November 14 due to a sprained back.
Despite agreeing to ease her workload, the Queen continued to fulfill her duties by conducting in-person and virtual audiences and meetings.
Her most recent official audience occurred on December 15 when she welcomed the Sultan of Oman and his wife to her Berkshire residence.
While she has refrained from official engagements in recent weeks, the Queen remains committed to her sovereign responsibilities, which include managing the government's daily red boxes.
Though the Queen has not yet resumed her official visits, she is expected to do so in the near future.
Furthermore, she will undoubtedly attend some of the events scheduled for the long June bank holiday, during which the jubilee will be celebrated throughout the country.
In contrast, other members of the royal family are anticipated to travel extensively within the UK over the coming months to fulfill their jubilee duties.
There is even the possibility of international travel, depending on the COVID-19 situation.
Sunday marks the official beginning of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, a momentous occasion as she becomes the first English sovereign to reign for 70 years.
Those who know the Queen personally describe her as having a great sense of humor and enjoying playful pranks.
This was evident when her right-hand woman, Angela Kelly, played a mischievous practical joke on Her Majesty during a royal tour of Australia in 2006.
Angela, who has been in the Queen's service for many years, shared the story in her book, “The Other Side of the Coin.”
The dresser revealed that the Queen had expressed a desire to see a kookaburra while in Australia.
Unable to find a live one, Angela purchased a cute cuddly toy version at a Sydney market.
However, before presenting it to the Queen, she decided to have a little fun by placing the toy in a small cage on the balcony outside Her Majesty's room at Governor's House, where they were all staying.
As concerns about the Queen's health persist, the nation eagerly awaits updates on her condition.
Despite the challenges she has faced, Her Majesty remains determined to fulfill her duties and celebrate her remarkable reign.
The Platinum Jubilee promises to be a momentous occasion, not only for the Queen but for the entire royal family and the people of the United Kingdom.
