Piers Morgan Slams Meghan Markle’s Appearance at New York School
Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has criticized Meghan Markle for her recent visit to a primary school in New York, where she read from her book, The Bench.
Morgan compared the Duchess of Sussex's appearance to Madonna's graceful aging and accused her of using the reading as a ploy to boost book sales.
Last Friday, Meghan and Prince Harry made an appearance in Central Harlem, where they also attended the Global Citizen live concert.
Morgan suggested that Meghan's motive for the visit was to increase book sales and took a dig at her outfit.
In his column for the Daily Mail, he wrote, “Well, I'm sure we can all agree that nothing screams defeating poverty more than Meghan Markle sporting $100,000 worth of designer clothes.
Whoever paid her to wear that unflattering bulky winter wardrobe on warm sunny days probably deserves a refund.”
Morgan didn't stop there.
He also took a swipe at Madonna, comparing her changing appearance over the years to Meghan's display of self-aggrandizement.
He stated, “We were told this cringe-making display of self-aggrandizement was to promote early literacy, but as reviewers have attested, The Bench is to literacy what Madonna is to growing old gracefully.”
During the school visit, Meghan shared a personal anecdote, saying, “I wrote this when we just had our little boy, and I haven't read it to any other kids but you.”
She also expressed concern for the children's well-being when asked how they were doing.
However, Morgan criticized their attempt to establish an alternative royal family, stating that it made him sick.
On the other hand, experts believe that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making the most of their freedom from royal duties.
Molly Malshine, host of the Royal E.U.S.
podcast, commended their efforts to address global issues, including calling out pharmaceutical companies for vaccine access problems.
She noted that such actions would have been seen as political and controversial if they were still part of the royal family.
Despite their endeavors, experts caution that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may not be welcomed back to the UK.
Royal historian Hugo Vickers expressed uncertainty about their reception during the upcoming jubilee celebrations.
He mentioned that while the Queen has been generous towards them, public opinion in the UK may differ.
Vickers added, “In America, she's taken more people in because they talk that language much more.”
In conclusion, Piers Morgan's criticism of Meghan Markle's appearance at a New York school has sparked debate about her intentions and the couple's future in the UK.
While some applaud their efforts to make a difference, others question their motives and wonder if they will ever be fully accepted back into the royal fold.
