Queen to Meet Great-Granddaughter on Her First Birthday During Platinum Jubilee Weekend

The Queen has cleared her schedule for the upcoming Jubilee weekend to finally meet her great-granddaughter on her first birthday.

Her Majesty, who is 96 years old, will reportedly miss one of her favorite sporting events, the Epsom Derby, on Saturday, June 4.

Instead, she will be celebrating the milestone with , Meghan, and their daughter at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

The royal couple, along with their two children and , have planned to spend the four-day Jubilee weekend at the residence.

However, the Queen's mobility issues have been a concern, and her aides are trying to keep her engagements to a minimum.

Due to her horses pulling out of the race, it is now highly unlikely that she will travel to Epsom for the Derby.

While the Queen plans to miss Thursday's Trooping the Colour official salute, she will make appearances on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to witness the flypast and receive a salute from returning guardsmen.

On Friday, , , and are expected to attend a Thanksgiving service at St Paul's Cathedral, with the Queen also hoping to be in attendance.

The Queen's absence from the Derby will be a rare occurrence as she has only missed the event twice before, during a state visit to Sweden in 1956 and the 48th anniversary of D-Day in France in 1984.

She first met , Harry and Meghan's son, at Windsor Castle in May 2019, and now looks forward to meeting Lilibet for the first time.

Despite the anticipation of this family gathering, there are concerns among palace aides that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might turn the weekend into a media circus.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield warned that leaks could occur in the coming weeks.

While the Queen is excited to see her great-grandchildren, she is reportedly not looking forward to the drama that Harry and Meghan often bring.

To ensure a smooth and focused Jubilee celebration, Prince Harry and Meghan have assured the Queen that they will maintain a low profile and only participate in official engagements.

They will avoid any unannounced visits or actions that could overshadow Her Majesty's celebrations.

Royal historian and author Hugo Vickers supports this approach, emphasizing the importance of keeping distractions to a minimum during such an important event.

However, tensions are rising within the palace walls as the House of Windsor prepares to welcome back the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

It has been announced that they, along with , will not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Colour, as they are no longer working royals.

The palace is also unaware of their unofficial plans, and there are concerns about the possibility of a Netflix film crew being present without official accreditation.

As the Queen's landmark Platinum Jubilee approaches, the presence of the Sussexes is causing headaches behind palace gates.

Nevertheless, the royal family hopes to focus on celebrating the Queen's remarkable reign, with minimal distractions and maximum unity.
