The Duchess of Cambridge: The New Diana in Fashion Choices
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is making a name for herself as a fashion icon, reminiscent of the late Princess Diana.
According to royal expert Duncan Larcombe, Kate has been confidently showcasing bold fashion choices that are suitable for her role as a member of the royal family.
Larcombe noted that the Duchess seems to be coming into her own and her appearances bear a striking resemblance to those of Princess Diana.
During an interview with OK!
magazine, Larcombe expressed his admiration for Kate's style evolution.
He said, “When I saw the photos, I was reminded that Kate has very much become the new Diana when it comes to the style stakes.”
Larcombe pointed out that Kate's recent outfit choices have garnered attention and praise, despite some considering them fairly conservative.
He also highlighted how Kate's fashion sense initially caught Prince William's eye, particularly when she wore a see-through outfit at a charity fashion show.
Recently, the 40-year-old royal presented the Queen Elizabeth II award for British design to Saul Nash in London.
On this occasion, she wore a stunning green Neddeline Lee dress, which received endless accolades from royal fans.
Larcombe emphasized that Kate's outfits over the past year demonstrate her growing confidence and elegance.
He stated, “She seems to look elegant in just about anything.
I think this is all part of a coming of age for the Duchess.”
Larcombe further explained how Kate has successfully balanced her public duties while being a role model for her children.
He remarked, “After the pandemic, combined with the behavior of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, we've really seen Kate up her game.
She's turned 40, celebrated her 10th wedding anniversary, and she has three beautiful children, who she loves sharing images of.
We've seen her talk more about her family and give us a glimpse behind the scenes of what life is like at home.”
Larcombe also highlighted some of Kate's most notable looks, including her outfits at the Christmas Carol service, the Earthshot Prize, and the No Time To Die premiere.
He even mentioned how Kate's presence at the premiere was only overshadowed by Prince William, who dressed as James Bond himself.
Larcombe drew comparisons between Kate and Princess Diana, stating that the only other royal who could be compared to her in terms of fashion influence is Diana herself.
He added, “Does she have the same clout as Diana?
Well, you only have to look at the sales figures for all the outfits she has worn, they have skyrocketed.
The minute Kate wears an off-the-peg dress, it sells out, and that reminds us of the Diana effect.”
While Meghan Markle may have distanced herself from the royal family, she still paid homage to her late mother-in-law, Lady Diana, in a subtle yet heartwarming way last year.
During her attendance at the Global Citizen Live event in New York City in September 2021, Meghan chose to carry a classic Dior purse, known as the Lady Dior.
This purse was named after Diana, as she received the first-ever Lady Dior purse in 1995 from the then First Lady of France.
Diana carried the purse everywhere, leading to it being named Lady Dior in her honor.
Although Meghan didn't carry the original Lady Dior from 1995, she carried a reimagined version called Lady D-Lite, designed by Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiri.
Meghan's fashion choices, however, have often sparked controversy and criticism from the public due to their perceived extravagance.
