Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK Return Announcement Draws Criticism from Royal Family Expert
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received criticism from a royal family expert regarding their recent announcement of returning to the UK.
The expert warned that senior members of the royal family may not be pleased with the timing of the announcement, as it coincided with Princess Anne's birthday.
On Monday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed their plans to visit Britain again next month, where they will actively participate in various charitable events.
Their first stop will be Manchester on September 5, where Meghan, who serves as a counselor for the One Young World organization, will deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the One Young World Summit.
The following day, they will travel to Germany for the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 One Year to Go event.
Finally, on September 8, they will attend the WellChild Awards in London, where Prince Harry is scheduled to give a speech.
This visit will mark the first time that Harry and Meghan have returned to the UK together since their attendance at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.
However, despite the noble intentions behind their return, renowned expert Kinsey Schofield believes that senior members of the royal family may not be thrilled about the announcement.
Schofield, the host of the Tadifa podcast, argues that the couple's decision to make the trip to Britain has been further exacerbated by the fact that they chose to announce it on Princess Anne's 72nd birthday.
According to Schofield, Prince Charles, who aims to streamline the monarchy rather than add another competing royal family, may not be pleased with Monday's announcement.
Princess Anne's birthday fell on the same day as the announcement, and the royal family, including Prince Charles and Prince William, took to social media to extend their birthday wishes to her.
During their previous visit to the UK in June for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Harry and Meghan maintained a relatively low profile and avoided the spotlight.
Although they did not join the working royals on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the Trooping the Colourfly over, they did attend a service of thanksgiving for the Queen at St Paul's Cathedral the following day.
Interestingly, their upcoming return to the UK coincides with the appointment of a new Prime Minister.
This will prompt the Queen to invite the successor of Boris Johnson to form a new government.
While it is likely that the 96-year-old monarch will travel back to London from her summer break at Balmoral to fulfill her head of state duties, it remains uncertain whether Harry and Meghan will meet with Prince William and Kate.
This has fueled speculation about strained relations between the two couples.
Despite their visit to Manchester and London, it is doubtful that Harry and Meghan will spend much time with their relatives, according to the royal expert.
Schofield believes that the only member of the royal family who might attempt to see the Sussexes is the Queen.
However, she doubts that the Queen would encourage such a meeting, as it would resemble a typical royal engagement.
In a recent promotional video lasting 1 minute and 33 seconds, Meghan is referred to as the Duchess, despite her and Prince Harry stepping back from their royal roles.
