Meghan Markle Not Attending King Charles’ Coronation Confirmed by Royal Family Members
The much-anticipated coronation of King Charles, scheduled for May 6th this year, may not see the presence of Meghan Markle, according to insiders close to the royal family.
Sources reveal that Meghan intends to decline the invitation, citing the need to look after her children, Archie and Lilibet, and avoid potential public backlash.
Recent tensions between the Sussexes and the royal family have made Meghan cautious about any uncomfortable confrontations at the event.
While it is believed that Harry will attend the coronation, even if Meghan chooses not to accompany him, opinions among the British public are divided.
A recent poll conducted by Redfield and Wilton Strategies for Mail Online indicates that 47% of people support Charles inviting the Sussexes to the ceremony, while 36% oppose the idea.
However, the poll suggests that fewer people are keen on Meghan's attendance, with 43% suggesting she should stay home.
In addition, the poll revealed that most Brits do not want Prince Andrew to attend, with only 26% in favor of his presence.
The tensions between Harry and the royal family have escalated since the release of his memoir, “Spare,” and a series of TV interviews to promote the book.
In an interview with ITV, Harry stated that he expects a private apology from King Charles and his brother, the Prince of Wales, before considering attending the coronation.
However, a source close to the royal family claims they do not feel an apology is necessary, as they do not recognize Harry's version of events.
The invitations for the coronation will be sent out in two weeks' time, leaving many wondering whether the Sussexes will make an appearance.
Omid Scobie, a reporter with connections to the Sussexes, stated that their plans remain unknown at this time.
The couple cannot make any decisions or form an itinerary until they receive an official invitation.
Meanwhile, Harry has announced an intimate live stream event on March 5th at 5pm GMT to promote his book.
The event, hosted by Penguin Random House, will focus on living with loss and the importance of personal healing.
As the upcoming coronation is set to be a historic event, the public eagerly awaits news of the attendees.
Meghan's potential absence would undoubtedly leave a noticeable gap.
