One character who has particularly suffered from this lackluster writing is Miranda.

Once a strong and independent woman, she has been reduced to a caricature of herself, portrayed as a bumbling and unlikable villain.

Her actions at Big’s funeral, demanding a drink before the bar is even open, only serve to further diminish her likability.

It’s disheartening to witness the degradation of a beloved character in such a manner.

The funeral scene itself is another example of the show’s missteps.

Rather than providing closure and allowing the characters to grieve, it becomes a chaotic and confusing affair.

Gloria, Big’s longtime assistant, disrupts the service with her uncontrollable sobbing, leaving viewers wondering about the purpose of this unnecessary distraction.

It feels as though loose ends are being thrown at us without any clear intention or direction.

As the episode progresses, we witness more instances of questionable storytelling.

Carrie’s podcast boss, Che, is caught in a drug-related incident with Miranda’s son, leading to a heated confrontation.

This scene, set against the backdrop of Big’s funeral, feels out of place and insensitive.

It’s difficult to understand why such a moment would be used for lighthearted flirtation and laughter.

Even the interactions between the main characters feel strained and unnatural.

Charlotte, burdened by guilt, interrupts a moment of solace for Carrie, making it all about herself.

This self-centeredness only serves to make her character less likable and relatable.

In the closing scenes, we find Carrie struggling with her grief, unable to find solace in sleep.

Her desperation for another pill highlights the depths of her despair, leaving viewers feeling as though they too have experienced the agonizing passage of time.

While I wish I could offer a more positive review, it’s important to acknowledge the disappointment that many fans are feeling.

We long for the lightness and charm of the original series, but instead, we are left with a show that feels heavy and devoid of joy.

It’s disheartening to see beloved characters reduced to unlikable versions of themselves, and the forced attempts at addressing social issues only serve to further alienate viewers.

Despite these criticisms, I will continue to watch the show, hoping that it will find its footing and recapture the magic of its predecessor.
