Meghan Markle Responds to Reports of Name Removal on Archie’s Birth Certificate
Meghan Markle has issued a strong statement in response to recent reports claiming that she had removed her first name from Archie's birth certificate.
According to the reports, it was revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan had secretly eliminated her birth names, Rachel Meghan, from the birth papers in 2019, leaving only her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Sussex.
However, the Duchess wasted no time in addressing these claims and offered a direct and straightforward response.
A spokesperson for Meghan released a statement to Page Six, stating that the change of name on public documents in 2019 was not at her request but rather dictated by the Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials.
The statement clarified that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and the Dutch of Sussex did not initiate this change.
Interestingly, this alteration took place on the 5th of June, during a period of growing rumors about a rift between Prince Harry, Prince William, and their wives, Meghan and Kate Middleton.
Shortly after, the Sussexes decided to step away from the joint charity efforts of the “Fab Four.”
Since then, the couple has been residing in Montecito, California, having stepped down as senior members of the Royal family in January 2020.
