Sarah Ferguson Shares First Photos of Queen’s Corgis on Her Birthday

In a heartwarming gesture, Sarah Ferguson, the former daughter-in-law of II, delighted her followers by posting the first pictures of the late monarch's beloved corgis, Mick and Sandy, on her 62nd birthday.

Fergie, as she is commonly known, adopted the two dogs with her ex-husband after the Queen's passing last month.

Now residing at their Royal Lodge home near Windsor Castle, Sarah took to Instagram on Saturday morning to share snapshots from one of their recent walks around the Royal Estate.

The Duchess of York began her photo series with a picture of herself lying on the grass, accompanied by the Queen's two favorite dogs standing close by.

“The presence that keeps on giving,” she captioned the post.

She then proceeded to upload five more photos, all showcasing the dogs being showered with affection by their new owner.

Fans of Sarah were overjoyed to see the dogs receiving such loving care and took the opportunity to wish her a happy birthday.

One supporter expressed, “How heartbreakingly beautiful.

We can trust that Sarah will take care of them gently and safely.

I'm relieved that they're both with you now.”

Another fan commented, “Poor babies, please keep us updated about them.”

A third follower wrote, “Good to see they are doing fine.”

Speaking to the Telegraph earlier this month, the Duchess revealed that caring for Sandy and Mick had been a tremendous honor.

At the Henley Literature Festival, she acknowledged that her new furry family members were national treasures and well-trained.

However, integrating the two corgis with the five Norfolk terriers that Sarah and Andrew already owned presented its challenges.

Sarah humorously remarked, “They all balance out.

The carpet moves as I move, but I've gotten used to it now.”

It was reported that the Duke of York and his daughters had gifted Mick and Sandy to the Queen over the past couple of years, promising to take care of them if she were to pass away.

Mick was given to keep her company while was in the hospital, and Sandy was presented to her on what would have been 's 100th birthday in June.

Dr. Roger Monkford, an expert in animal behavior who has assisted the Queen with her corgis for many years, emphasized the psychological importance of these animals to her.

Tragically, the Queen passed away on September 8th at Balmoral.

Sources within the palace revealed that her beloved corgis were by her side during her final moments.

On September 19th, Mick and Sandy made a poignant appearance at the funeral, capturing the hearts of many.

They patiently waited in the quadrangle with two attendants as the procession carrying the late monarch's coffin traveled from London to its final resting place in Windsor before the cortege departed for St George's Chapel.

Following the news of the Queen's passing, a dog expert expressed concerns about the well-being of her corgis.

John Smith, founder of pet personalization product website Yappy, explained that while dogs do not comprehend the concept of death, they may experience a sense of loss when their owner is no longer present.

Symptoms such as whining, pacing, howling, loss of appetite, fidgeting, disrupted sleep patterns, anxiety, and lethargy can manifest in dogs who feel abandoned or experience emotional despair.

Throughout her life, the Queen owned more than 30 corgis, all descended from her first one, Susan, a gift from her father, George VI, on her 18th birthday.

These royal canines were pampered with their own rooms featuring elevated wicker baskets, and their meals, prepared by a chef each evening, consisted of beef, chicken, rabbit, liver, cabbage, and rice.

Occasionally, the Queen herself would personally prepare their meals.

In contrast, her late husband was reputed to have despised the dogs' constant yapping.

Sarah Ferguson's gesture of sharing photos of the Queen's corgis not only celebrated her own birthday but also provided a glimpse into the loving care bestowed upon these cherished pets.

Mick and Sandy, now under Sarah's watchful eye, continue to be a source of comfort and companionship, honoring the memory of the late monarch who adored them.
