A petition has been circulating online, urging for Major Johnny Thompson to be named the Duke of Sussex instead of .

Major Thompson has been a constant presence at the side of , assisting him during the early weeks of his reign.

Known for his dashing looks and his penchant for wearing kilts, the 39-year-old equerry has gained a legion of swooning fans on the internet and it seems that his dedication has paid off.

Last week, Major Thompson was seen accompanying the King as he welcomed Rishi Sunak to Buckingham Palace.

In the palace forecourt, he was spotted shaking hands with the new Prime Minister alongside Sir Clive Alderton, Principal Private Secretary to the King, and Sir Edward Young, Joint Principal Private Secretary to the King.

Royal enthusiasts quickly noticed that he was referred to as Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, a higher rank than his previous designation as a major.

Fans took to Twitter to express their admiration for Major Thompson.

One user wrote, “Never a chore to see Major Johnny Thompson at the palace in his kilt.

That man is handsome.

He's got a promotion, which is great, but he will always be our Major Johnny Thompson.”

However, a recent poll revealed that remains the nation's favorite royal.

The Prince and Princess of Wales topped the survey, with 69% of the 1,095 British adults surveyed expressing a favorable opinion of , closely followed by his wife Kate with 67%.

, known as the Princess Royal, secured third place with 64% favorability.

King Charles came in fourth with a 54% favorability rating, marking an 11% increase compared to the previous poll.

Overall, 54% of respondents expressed a favorable opinion of the royal family, while only 17% held an unfavorable view.

All major members of the royal family experienced a boost in their approval scores.

However, Prince Harry received criticism, with a third of those surveyed expressing an unfavorable opinion of him, and 44% feeling the same about his wife Meghan.

Prince Harry's decision to proceed with his memoir, despite initial speculation that he might reconsider after the Queen's death in September, has drawn further backlash.

GB News host Nana Akua condemned Harry, viewing his actions as a betrayal of the royal family and the British people.

She criticized his choice to leave Britain in search of privacy, only to now profit from revealing details about his life.

Akua sarcastically suggested that the memoir should be titled “Spare Us, Spare Us the Details,” expressing her refusal to contribute to funding his lifestyle complaints.

While a portion of the book's proceeds will reportedly go to charity, including donations of £1.8 million to Santa Belle and Wellchild, Akua argued that the British taxpayer has already supported Harry for years and accused him of turning his back on the country.

It has been reported that the tone of the book has changed from its original concept, a decision that has been deemed wise by some.

As the debate surrounding Prince Harry's memoir continues, Major Johnny Thompson's rise in status has captured the attention and support of many, leaving royal enthusiasts eagerly awaiting future developments.
