The Middleton Women’s Stylish Twinning: Carol and Pippa Follow in Kate’s Fashion Footsteps

It's no secret that , the Duchess of Cambridge, has a significant influence on fashion trends, known as the “ effect.”

However, it seems that her own family members are not immune to her sartorial influence.

Kate's mother, Carol Middleton, and sister, Pippa Middleton, have been spotted stepping out in similar outfits, raising questions about whether they have been inspired by the elder sister who became a princess.

One notable instance of this fashion twinning occurred when Carol Middleton attended Royal Ascot 2022 wearing a fuchsia dress previously worn by Kate.

The Duchess of Cambridge had donned the pretty pink collared midi dress back in 2021 during a meeting with a five-year-old girl with cancer at Holyroodhouse.

The dress, a $540 Me Plus M creation, was styled slightly differently by Carol, who paired it with a chic black clutch and an elaborate fascinator worn to one side, in traditional Royal Ascot style.

This is not the first time Carol has taken a style cue from her daughter.

In 2018, she recreated one of Kate's looks by wearing the same orange Bowdoin coat, worth $330, that the Duchess had worn earlier that year.

Similarly, Pippa has also been seen emulating her sister's fashion choices.

At 's wedding to Jack Brooksbank, Pippa wore a forest green Amelia Wickstead dress, reminiscent of a forest green Catherine Walker outfit that Kate had worn while pregnant with .

The sisters' fashion similarities extend beyond pregnancy looks.

In 2014, Kate wore a turquoise dress by local designer Amelia Wickstead during her visit to New Zealand.

The following year, Pippa wore a similar Tabitha Webb dress to a wedding in Norfolk.

Both sisters have shown a preference for long-sleeved maternity looks, even when not expecting.

Another instance of twinning occurred when both Kate and Pippa sported giant fur hats.

During a visit to Oslo in 2018, Kate wore a vibrant blue coat with a chocolate brown luxury alpaca fur hat.

Pippa had previously styled a similar outfit with a mustard yellow Catherine Hooker Tory coat during the Cheltenham Festival in 2013.

The Middleton women's fashion choices have also overlapped during significant events.

At the Princess of Wallace Christmas Carol service in December last year, Pippa arrived in a burgundy coat almost identical to the one worn by Kate.

This mirrored their outfits at Charlotte's christening in 2015, where both sisters wore white dresses and n^de pumps.

Kate opted for a dress by Alexander McQueen, while Pippa chose a creation by Amelia Wickstead.

The fashion twinning continues with Carol and Kate sharing clothes.

During the Royal Ascot in 2022, Carol looked elegant in a ME Plus M silk shirt dress, the same dress previously worn by Kate to a royal engagement in May 2021.

Carol accessorized the dress with a black openwork hat with feathered adornments, while Kate chose simpler accessories and a face mask when she wore the dress to meet a five-year-old cancer patient as part of her Hold Still photography project.

It is clear that the Middleton women not only inspire each other's fashion choices but also share their clothes.

Whether it's borrowing from Kate's style playbook or simply having a similar taste, Carol and Pippa have shown that they can effortlessly channel the Duchess's fashion prowess.

The Middleton family's fashion twinning has become a phenomenon in its own right, captivating fashion enthusiasts and proving that style runs in the family.
