Oprah Drops Bombshell on Prince Harry After Shocking Confession
Prince Harry has once again opened up about the struggles he faced behind the royal facade, with Oprah Winfrey dropping a bombshell during a new documentary series.
The series, titled “The Me You Can't See,” premiered on Apple TV+ on Friday, delving into mental health issues.
In a candid conversation with Oprah, Harry revealed his battle to cope with the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997.
Reflecting on his darkest times between the ages of 23 and 32, Prince Harry described it as a “nightmare time” filled with anxiety and panic attacks.
He admitted to turning to alcohol and drugs in an attempt to numb the pain, confessing, “I was willing to do anything to escape the overwhelming emotions.”
His excessive drinking was not out of enjoyment but rather as a coping mechanism to mask his inner turmoil.
While Prince Harry did not directly name members of the royal family, he did touch upon his strained relationship with his father, Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne.
Harry expressed disappointment in his father's lack of emotional support following Diana's death, recalling how Charles expected him to handle the media scrutiny and other challenges alone.
“Life was like that for me, so it's going to be like that for you,” Charles had told his sons.
Living in California with his wife, Meghan Markle, who is pregnant with their second child, Prince Harry emphasized the importance of breaking the cycle of suffering.
He rejected the notion that children should endure the same hardships as their parents, advocating for creating a better future for the next generation.
“If you suffered, do everything you can to ensure your kids don't have to go through the same pain,” Harry asserted.
This is not the first time Prince Harry has spoken out about his experiences in 2021.
Earlier this year, he and Meghan participated in a revealing interview with Oprah, shedding light on their decision to step back from royal duties.
More recently, Harry appeared on the “Armchair Expert” podcast hosted by Dax Shepard and Monica Padman, further discussing his mental health journey.
In a separate development, Meghan Markle has come under scrutiny for allegedly leveraging her relationship with Prince Harry to advance her Hollywood career.
Royal author Tom Bower claimed in his latest book, “Revenge: Megan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors,” that Meghan strategically used her connection with Harry to boost her public image.
Bower highlighted a Vanity Fair cover story from 2017, where Meghan was portrayed as being “wild about Harry,” sparking controversy within royal circles.
According to Bower, Meghan was displeased with the focus on her personal life rather than her charitable endeavors, expressing frustration to the interviewer.
The author suggested that Meghan's desire for a certain portrayal in the media led to tensions and feelings of manipulation.
