Traditionally, councillors of state are the spouse of the reigning King or Queen and the first four individuals in line to the throne who are over 21 and reside in the UK.

Fitzwilliams highlighted that by not having a UK residence, Prince Harry has forfeited his right to act as a councillor of state, which could impact 's future reign if Harry remains without a home in Great Britain.

The King's decision to add Edward and Anne to the list implies that Prince Harry and may never be called upon to fulfill this role.

Despite not being able to remove his son or Prince Andrew from the list, King Charles opted to include Edward and Anne as a precautionary measure.

This move signifies the King's foresight in ensuring the continuity of governance in his absence.

As Prince Harry and Meghan pursue their careers in the United States while retaining their royal titles, questions arise about their commitment to their British roles.

Royal expert Tom Bauer noted that Harry's constitutional position would only become relevant if he returns to Britain, which seems unlikely given the current circumstances.

Bauer suggested that to mitigate the damage caused by the Sussexes, King Charles should formally sever Harry's constitutional ties with Britain, thereby curbing their exploitation of their royal status for personal gain.
