Megan Markle’s Spotify Podcast Set to Return in October
Megan Markle's highly anticipated Spotify podcast, Archewell Audio, is set to make its return on October 4, according to an announcement by the streaming platform.
The Duchess of Sussex had put a pause on new episodes out of respect for Queen Elizabeth, who passed away on September 8 at the age of 96.
Megan and her husband Prince Harry attended the late monarch's funeral on September 19 before returning to their home in California.
During the period of royal mourning, all members of the monarchy halted their official duties, including Markle, whose podcast had launched in August.
However, regular episodes are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, October 4, as stated on the podcast's Spotify page.
The upcoming episode is expected to feature conversations with comedian and Fire Island star Margaret Cho, as well as journalist Lisa Ling.
The topic of discussion will revolve around Asian American tropes in the entertainment industry.
In the previous episodes, Megan delved into various themes, such as ambition and the duality of the word “diva.”
She also provided glimpses into her own life and at times criticized the royal institution and the British press.
One notable incident she discussed was a fire that broke out in the nursery room where her son Archie Harrison was supposed to be asleep during their tour to South Africa in September 2019.
Megan seemingly criticized the palace for expecting her and Prince Harry to carry on with their engagements despite the distressing situation.
The Duchess expressed her frustration, saying, “Everyone's in tears, everyone's shaken, and what do we have to do?
Go out and do another official engagement?
I said, this doesn't make any sense.
Can you just tell people what happened?”
Megan believes that the focus often ends up being on appearances rather than emotions, stating, “I think optically the focus ends up being on how it looks instead of how it feels.”
In another episode, Megan discussed her experience of being mixed-race with singer Miss Carrie.
She reflected on how her perception of race shifted after she started dating Prince Harry, realizing what it was like to be treated as a black woman rather than just a mixed woman.
During her conversation with Miss Kaling, she spoke about her younger years and described herself as an “ugly duckling” growing up.
Megan also shared her annoyance at people constantly telling her how lucky she was that Prince Harry had chosen her.
However, she emphasized that she had also chosen him and appreciated having a partner who countered the narrative that she was fortunate to be with him.
The already released episodes of Megan's podcast have hinted at the possibility of more revelations to come.
Some speculate that she may delve deeper into her past and her experiences with the royal institution.
However, royal expert Kinsey Schofield suggests that Megan might make last-minute edits to ensure that nothing insensitive or insulting is said about the royal family, especially in the aftermath of the Queen's passing.
The question remains: Will Megan's podcast further exacerbate the ongoing rift between the Sussexes and the royal family?
