Netflix’s Revenge on the Sussexes: The Clown Series and the Plundered Money
In a surprising turn of events, Netflix is reportedly seeking revenge on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by exploiting their story without paying them.
According to Neil Sean's recent report, the streaming giant is considering creating a series similar to “The Crown” but with a twist.
They are contemplating naming it “The Clown.”
While “The Crown” is coming to an end, the company behind the hit show has not ruled out delving into Prince Harry's book, “Spare.”
As the contents of the book have already been widely reported in various publications, Netflix can create an unauthorized biopic about his life using this information.
It may not be a faithful adaptation of “Spare,” but rather a portrayal based on the book's key points.
A well-placed source revealed that Netflix is seriously considering this project, regardless of whether Harry and Meghan give their approval or not.
They already have a captivating story, and as seen in “The Crown,” they have shown no regard for Harry's image.
In the hit series, he was portrayed as a sniveling snitch-like brother to the Prince of Wales, showcasing a lack of respect for him.
Ultimately, Netflix doesn't seem to care about the couple's opinion.
The army experiences and Harry's meeting with Meghan are expected to be the highlights of the potential series.
While the book has yet to be purchased by any major studio or television drama, it is worth noting that Peter Morgan, the creator of “The Crown,” has successfully rewritten royal narratives before.
He has managed to present them in a way that appeals to a global audience.
This could be a similar case, where Netflix commissions someone to create a show about Harry, leaving him powerless to stop it.
Furthermore, Netflix has the freedom to choose any title for the series.
They don't have to call it “Spare” or even refer to him as Prince Harry.
They can simply title it “Harry's Story.”
This is how show business operates, and it seems that Netflix is determined to recoup the money they invested in Harry, even if it means plundering his life for entertainment purposes.
If Netflix were to produce “Spare,” it could potentially be detrimental to the Harkhall brand.
The series might showcase Harry in a negative light, mocking a disabled woman or revealing intimate details about his first s**ual encounter.
While Harry believes his book to be a non-fictional truth, many aspects of it are clearly figments of his imagination.
This could lead to public backlash, with viewers criticizing the show for its inaccuracies regarding his life, real-life events, and other members of the royal family.
Interestingly, the producers of “The Crown” were cautious when it came to incorporating Prince Harry's memoir into the show.
Insiders claimed that Annie Sulzberger, the head of research for the Netflix series, deemed the memoir's release timing too late to have a significant impact.
She acknowledged that there were interesting details in the book that could have been useful if received earlier.
However, she emphasized the need to approach a personal memoir as a subjective account rather than an absolute truth.
Prince Harry's book was released in January of this year, coinciding with the final season of “The Crown.”
By that time, the majority of season 6 had already been written and filmed.
Sulzberger stated that the memoir did not greatly influence their production process.
The sixth season of “The Crown” will be released in two parts, in November and December.
